Same lobby w/ Friends?

  • There should be an option where you can leave your friends Crew, but not the lobby. I've wanted to get into the same lobby with my friends so we can battle out our ships, but it is a one in a million chance to get the matched lobbies. Please implement this feature

If you'd be able to determine which server you end up on, entire fleets would just be farming servers and PvP would mean the one that brings the most friends would win. While it might sound nice to play with a bigger group of people, it'll change the entire game in a bad way.

  • I agree with this! I think letting players choose the server they want to play on would be the best case scenario. Then if you and your friend wanted to play on an empty server by yourselves with your own ships you could. This would be a great way to help build skills or train new players!

  • @cold-dead-legs Sounds like a safezone to me, but server-wide if you stack it. Hard pass. Entire feel of the game is wondering who will show up and what their intentions are.

  • @mrsqook There are some tactics which a fair few pirates are using to enable friends to join servers and it basically involves either 'buying' or 'borrowing' someone else's ship as they log off. I think this is a fantastic way of players making the game their own and using opportunities rather than relying on mechanics to find other ways to play how they wish to.

    Here's one example....

  • @lizardspider i also enjoy trying to find out other players intentions, however there have been times I want to just screw around with my friends without having other people interfere. Being able to pick your server could also mean picking a server where you have the choice to play on a forced friendly server or a regular server, you could even then have a free for all Server, Team based PVP server etc etc. Generally speaking most fleets I have sailed in we could go around sinking every ship we come across but we dont. We usually end up trying to get as much treasure and loot as possible by working together to complete voyages. I want more options to pick the experience I want to have each play session rather then get forced into a 3h chase because I got a skull fortkey.

  • @cold-dead-legs Don't go for the fort key then? It sounds like you just do forts from the way that's worded, and those are PvP magnets.

I could see supporting a friendly server system, but only if they did it like Dead Rising 2. No money, no experience, no reward of any kind. You want to play with your friends, fine, but you can't boost each other either. It would be kind of amazing to see a server-wide race around the world though.

  • @lizardspider I'd actually be ok with no rewards and just a training zone.

I only go for skull forts when I'm with a friend and have my sloop of war fully stocked. The 3h chase I'm referring to went around the entire map twice and we had to sail into the wind to try and outrun the galleon. We cut through rocks and hit them with gun powder several times but you just can't gain enough distance as it sits to outrun people if they are determined enough. You just sit at equal length going the same speed popping shots at eachother.... for 3h. My friend and I can complete a skull fort in 20 or 30 minuets depending on our coordination.

  • @cold-dead-legs That's the adventure that unfolded for you that day. Been there, and it sucks. Try sending you/your mate over to their ship, and suicide anchoring them. That'll give you enough time, or head straight for a storm. I've lost many pursuers in those just by anchoring near some rocks since visibility goes to nothing.
