Well, E3 is nearly over and all that remains are a few random conference bits, and Nintendo god bless their souls. Some of the major highlights FOR ME were as follows, though the list isn't nearly as exhaustive as it could be - it's a start.
Obvious if only to me, Xbox and Bethesda had the most promising shows so far - IMO. Some of the Panels actually disagree with that statement, but of everything that has been offered the most promising really seems to stem from the Xbox camp and Bethesda camps with few outliers. Even if you aren't thrilled by the offerings, they had the most meat IMO, with little competition.
So far most of the games, universally, were thinner offering this year than we might have hoped. From every company... But there were exceptions as I am sure many fans of various IP's are thrilled at any news for their favorite games. Properties such as Forza, Battlefield, Kingdom Hearts, Cyberpunk, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, The Walking Dead Telltale, The Division 2 and so many more getting updates all but implies that many players will be happy.
Personally, I am most stoked for Fallout 76, Cyberpunk 2077, the years end for Sea of Thieves, Two Point Hospital, The Division 2, and yes even still others.
But it's not just games that excited me, Microsoft continues to stand by game pass and further details their acquisitions, and plans to acquire even more developers under the aegis of it's studio banner. This is good for MS gamers, it really is! Even if you hate the devil Microsoft and all it's done recently with the perceived low initial content offering that Sea of Thieves started as and the bug laden monstrosity of errors that was State of Decay 2... you likely have to admit that the idea of your favorite full value titles continuing to be applied to the service that is game pass is a good thing. Knowing we will continue to receive top notch games from some of our favorite industry leaders without having to drop a random $60 every time a new title launches, is frankly, astounding to me. Though a $10 subscription service might be a thorn in some gamers sides (Though for now the first month is only $1) - like Netflix or Hulu for me... I don't even notice it once I account it into my monthly bills... I just skip a steak dinner or a couple of Starbucks coffees for myself a month and remain content...
Which brings us to my favorite game pass offering, Sea of thieves.
Let's face it, the initial launch garnered alot of negative feedback. Even if the overall reception was good, and reported numbers look strong (Granted 4-5 million players compared to the 35 million other games receive may not be 'strong' in some books), we still have to admit that launch left alot of first timers and even those who've remained since launch a bit... shall we say filled with brine and salt water.
But we have endured! And if the numbers presented during the conference are an indication we also persevere! Hungering deep may also have left people... wanting more... but again more is coming!
With the two most recently teased offerings on the way through the year what are the thoughts of the player base here on these forums? Will Sea of Thieves finally offer enough by years end to silence the complainers (Likely nothing will, lol)? Is the realization that Game Pass, which many who access SoT use, is only going to continue to grow as exciting for you as it is me? Is there a favorite title you are longing for that was presented at E3? Will SoT continue to retain your interest once September Ends? I guess my overall question is to ask that since E3 is mostly coming to an end, at least as far as major announcements are regarded, how do you feel about the upcoming year in gaming? What might you hope to see revealed from the Nintendo camp as well (since we've yet to see their offerings at the show)? And of those thoughts, what opinions do you have regarding SoT itself?
