Anyone else hear the music?

  • When we first started playing back in April I drove down into the water at Smugglers Bay. I could hear music similar to the sound of the mermaid music just softer. It was in the middle of the Bay and only in that area of the Bay. Last night I decided to dive down again, and this time there are rocks where the music is coming from. I don’t remember those rocks being there. Anyone else heard this music there?

  • @purplemajic I've already heard that mermaid sound at Shark Bait Cove in the middle of the island. I don't really know why but I don't think it means something :)

  • @purplemajic I have heard music at random islands for no apparent reason. I've been doing merchant quests to catch up to my HD rep then suddenly it's like a fanfare or the build-up to a horror scene in a movie.

It's strange how you've heard music similar to the mermaid and pinpointed it to come from rocks under the water.
I'm pretty sure that I have swam to the bottom of the bay there but don't recall seeing rocks there. I thought it would be a good place to find lost treasure.

Sorry I am of no help but I'll try to check it out the next I play.

  • Want something more to drive you nuts, if you play on PC?

Turn on spatial sound option. You start getting directional sounds clearer (helps me find those pesky chickens at night) but there are a lot of ambient sounds I’ve not heard before coming through as well.

Heard several animal sounds that I know are now pigs, chickens, snakes or birds. Some screaming and roars.

    ...and the frogs :D

  • Have to take a trip to Smuggler’s Bay and have a listen.

Only music I’ve regularly noted is light ambient while sailing. Today I did note that on various parts of some islands I heard the ominous “skeletons are near” music from an OOS Voyage...but I was not on a voyage. I was just exploring. Now that was creepy :-)

  • Gotta pay a visit to the 'Bay again to confirm, but I think this might just be part of the ambient soundtrack, you'll encounter it when diving in select locations or just regular ol' deep waters.

  • @specialadvisor

ive had that happen lots too. usually its another crew activated that voyage and are on their way. sometimes they are a long way off but you will know they are close when skellys pop up

  • I think one night I heard crickets?

I think one night I heard crickets?

Were you playing at night? lol

  • @purplemajic The voices in my head told me to tell you that you're crazy and that they are never wrong about these things. Just saying. :o)

  • @admiral-rrrsole you mean literally or in game? Yes to both. Haha! But we don’t have crickets where we live because of my 12 felines. 😜

  • @admiral-rrrsole you need to tame those voices. 😜

  • @purplemajic Literally. IRL

As a treat for my ducks and chickens (in real life) I would buy meal worms and crickets. But I'm a big softy when it comes to animals so the "treat" soon became part of their daily feeding routine. As you can imagine what started as a cheap treat soon adds up to a fair bit.

After a while I watched videos on people breeding meal worms and other videos about breeding crickets. I kept the cricket breeding box in the bathroom.
As you could imagine, one or two crickets is bad enough when you are trying to sleep but there's nothing like 100+ crickets chirping (rubbing their legs together) throughout the entire night.
Needless to say that money saving idea went out the door. The chickens and ducks had a field day. :o)

Nah I can't. Whenever I try to make a suggestion it usually ends in a fist fight. I can't take it any more.

  • @braxkedren

The screaming and roars started with the The Hungering Deep drop, I think. I have just assumed they are the distant calls of the Megalodon.

  • In my experience, when you hear the OoS voyage music, it means someone has an OoS voyage on that island. Found that out the hard way once. I was on Crooked Masts trying to collect chickens when I heard the OoS music. A few minutes later, a bunch of skeletons spawned and then a Galleon showed up. The next time I heard it, I was at Shipwreck Bay and, so, ran to check the horizon. lol and behold, a fallen headed right for me from Dagger Tooth. But, I’ve also heard it with nobody around - especially on Cannon Cove. I think that’s a bugged voyage. So, those are the reasons you may hear OoS music - so, be wary!

  • @surveyorpete Actually just heard one at Mermaid's. Was NOT a shark at all. Was on land and it was definitely a roar.
