How to Find another crew to do Meg

  • We were waiting for half an hour at T26 for another crew.. it's good that they made it so you have to cooperate but that's seriously stupid that you have to sit and wait. They should have T26 in a separate instance or something so nearby ships can always find someone

  • @peteloaf777 Try waiting at Shark Bait Cove instead.

    PvP central. Hell yeah.

  • @mrgrim67686 my sir, you must always be the aggressor because all day yesterday I was helping people out on their voyage, never once fighting unless it was a simple sparring with swords

  • @omega-131313 Eh it's good for me, since I get to hunt hunters and not scuttlecowards.

  • @mrgrim67686

What's your opinion on just sitting down and waiting?

Just to make lining up the headshot on me a bit quicker.

  • @peteloaf777 As already mentioned, i prefer to wait at sharkbait cove and show friendly intentions, use the trumpet.
Also make sure you run a matching flag and maybe place a gift of good will near Merrick, so other players can see it. A Castaways chest or a caged chicken can show your intention of not going for loot only.
It's not granted that this will end peacefully, but it's worth a try.

  • Yesterday we started at the Megalodon location just in case some crews were already fighting it. There was no fight but there was one sloop who joined us and followed us to Shark Bait Cove. No ship on the way, sadly. At Shark Bait Cove we encounter another sloop who was waiting for it too.

On the journey to the infamous "T26" location, a third sloop joined us for the fight. Against a 3-sloop-1-galleon armada, the Megalodon didn't do much, it didn't even know wich ship to attack.

So my advice, even if it is a bit long, would be to begin aroung T26, then returning to Shark Bait Cove (since you need to pick Merrick's shanty anyway). These are the two "Shark-Event-Parking" slots.

Never been the snipey type, I prefer to run in guns blazing.

  • Man, you need to edit this title. I laugh way too hard every time I read it.

  • @mrgrim67686

Oh no, just when boarded. Most end up using a blunderbus.

  • @v**a-hombre Ah. Sword and flintlock guy myself. The rifle takes just as many shots and the pistol has almost as much range. I do like how they did the reticle. Reminds me of the bucaneer sniper from gotham city imposters. Anyway you need to give someone an enema with the blunderbuss to one shot them, so the pistol is the most practical weapon. For me.

Sniping/shooting from the yardarms hasn't been patched yet. It should be.

There's no bob or sway and it's like standing on solid ground. C****y exploit but people do it.

  • @mrgrim67686

While the Reach and blunderbus are super useful at times, I have to agree that I feel the most piratey when I've got my sword 'n pistol.

  • I'm thinking I'm going to pay a crew to help us. My friends and I can't do THD until late next week so finding a crew that hasn't done it will be impossible. What's a fair offer? Four or five captain chests?

  • This happened with my partner and myself last night until we found another sloop sitting there on a different server.

We waited a while together then decided to start a new server with the sloop player on an open crew galleon which made our team 4 members.

We then travelled the map picking up random people onto our galleon, who wanted to do it with us and got the job done.

  • @peteloaf777 I've done the fight three times here is how I found a crew...

    1. Waited at T-26 (Do not recommend)
    2. Waited at Shark Bait Cove (Highly Recommend)
    3. Sail around and find one (Meh)

The third one is actually a funny story, me crew mate and I were doing a voyage and suddenly we see the Kraken start attacking a galleon so I was like "Lets go help them" and my friend was like "Nah, I want money" So I dropped him off and took me mighty Sloop The KingSlayer and headed toward them. Into the dark black water I plunged firing cannonball after cannonball. Eventually we fended off the beast. For one terrifying second I thought they were going to sink me ship, but nah, they asked if we wanted to go fight the meg. And so we did, and something hilarious happened after we beat it...but that's a story for another day. Cheers! -Capt. Quen

  • @celestron90 haha if you show them those chests they will probably just kill you. its a fun fight. ask around, someone will do it.

  • I had tried waiting at both locations and also trumpet commo with every ship I saw. I finally had succes using the Looking for Group function on XBox. Good thing in this method is there are HungeringDeep and MustHaveDrums tags to narrow down the search.

  • I did it twice, once failing. I spawned in, hit a few forts to load the ship up and looked around for ships. The first time, we saw a Galleon on SB so we stopped our ship pretty far away and I fired myself over and asked if they were looking for more people and they said yes and we joined them. Another sloop pulled up and asked to join.

Last night, we had filled our Galleon on the way and on the last fort a sloop began approaching us. I fired myself towards them and asked if they were looking to do Meg and they said yes. We told them we saw another sloop that we were going to approach but they said they would go instead. They didn't for some reason but another sloop pulled up to the Island while we were on it and asked to join. We were all friendly and completed the task and went on our own way.

Just go ask people. That's how it works. If you sit in T26 they might think you're camping to kill people who are going to fight it. Sit on sharkbait with your ship sails up, canons up and all your lights on. If someone is looking to do it, they'll show up. If not, go around and look for people. DONT CHASE THEM OR SHOOT AT THEM NO MATTER WHAT. Just wait for them to stop somewhere, sit far away and shoot yourself over towards them telling them you're friendly. Don't board them. Just ask if they want to help kill it and move on.

Not showing them anything. If they want them they can try to take them and get paid. Or cooperate and get paid. I just figure it'd make searching for a 5th easier.
