Cheeseburger - tips, tricks, diy

  • I've seen that a few of you showed interest in this topic. And it seems better to have a thread about it, than to spam it in other threads (full disclosure, that doesn't mean I'll stop annoying trolls with it)

    So... homemade, or bought?
    any favorite recipes or restaurants?

  • Homemade and bought
How I make my homemade burger

    Toasted Bun
    Mayo
    Pickles
    Tomatoes
    Lettuce
    Cheese
    Patty
    Ketchup
    Toasted Bun

Edit: What the heck is wrong with the word bun at the top?

  • Beef/Patty = Homemade
Buns = Bought from the bakery
And don‘t use any sort of fancy sauce. Just ketchup and mustard. That‘s it.

  • @sir-lotus Has to be home made matey!

And has to have onions, lots of onions!

  • do you guys grill your buns or not? I've seen two approaches to this.

    I thought that was intentional.
Do you put the ingridients on the burger in that order?
I find it very difficult to put tomatoes and lettuce together. It‘s always a slippery slope!

  • @Sir-Lotus Love it toasted
    @Power-Hansen

    yes, in that order
"The messier the burger, the better it is!"

  • @sir-lotus Just a slight toast. You want the bread to soak up all the juices so don‘t grill that b****h too much!

  • @sir-lotus Toasted but lightly... don't want to burn my buns.

  • I'll make a burger if I have the meat around. If it's a quick burger for just me, simple ground something or other for the patty cooked on the George Foreman. When I have the kids and/or friends over, I'll buy meat and grind it myself. Sirloin is common. A good patty press is really nice. Season, press and let 'em ride overnight in the fridge.

Mustard makes everything so that's included. A little ketchup and I like my lettuce shredded. Pickles, onions and nice slice of sharp cheddar.

    Now I'm hungry.

  • @gatorwocky well thanks, now i need to go eat something...

btw. i like to grind the meat myself as well. I got an old meatgrinder from my grandma, made in the 40s. (the grinder I mean, grandma was older)

  • I know it seems odd but smoked for about 40 minutes (cooking it but not drying it) and then sear that baby closed so you taste a hint of the burn..
The key to home-made is getting that spice flavour just right in the beef.

  • @wilderness03 I've never tried a smoked one. That might be interesting.

  • R a n d y you coagulated gravy hot dog bun eating b*****d. When did you start playing this game?!

Not odd at all! When the smokers are fired up, I'm always throwing something else on that won't take nearly as long to cook so I can have some lunch along the way. Burgers, dogs, brats.....whatever. Otherwise, it kills me to smell ribs or a brisket smoking all day.
