I'm not sure why This game doesn't currently have a mark where you died last considering every other game has one. I would love to see this put into the game so when I die with something in mid water it isn't a total throw away and I have an idea of where to look. currently, if you die in OPEN water the chance of you finding where u died with no landmarks is 1,000,000,000 to 0.01. EXAMPLE Me and a buddy were on a sloop and killed a 4man galleon and took the key and we lost our ship and galleon and friend were racing back to where I was with the key and I knew if I stayed on the island they would find me. so I started heading NE/E with the key in the water 2 sharks doubled teamed me and now Key is lost and so is Skull fort Loot/ If death mark was there ide have an idea where to come back to at least instead of guessing and wasting my time and making me not want to play anymore. Please tell me what you think about this feature that basically every other game has and feel free to comment, like and dislike :)
Death marker / Last died location
@hoppentosse Then players should get there own maps with them in their inventory and you can see latitude and longitude if you want it that way
@luna-ev0 I would call this 'expected behaviour'. Everything which includes navigation requires to keep an eye on the map, your compass and probably landmarks or nearby islands and rocks. And yes, these sums up to more than 2 eyes, the eye-patch-wearing pirate might see an even bigger task.
@sirliborius Your comment made no sense and the last part was suppose to be funny? Also, the ship isn't near me and partner cant see me on the map so they don't know where I'm at. So Was your comment useful or relevant at all? Like if I had a navigator with a map in the water it wouldn't have been an issue but didn't. I don't think you can understand the level at which we are discussing currently
@luna-ev0 I understand that you want some marker to find the place of your death again. But i don't think it fits the nature of the game.
If you aren't on your ship, you can still use your compass and surroundings to try and figure out where you are. Yes, that means to drop the key for a few seconds. But it's just part of planning ahead: try to figure out where you are before you start running or swimming.@sirliborius Understood and that's what happened. Key dropped and compass location put me between an island NE/E but that's 2 much water between point A/B and then it sinks as well. Trust me I am experienced in PVP and PVE and I know how to play the game I just think some people are asking for too much realism over better game mechanics. This is a video game and Sea Of Thieves not "Pirate Simulator 2018" So the realism doesn't need to be 100/100 you have better chances finding a needle in the haystack vs an Item dropped in Open water and no landmarks.
@crimsonraziel I mean why stop there, It's harder to see ships at night I want thermal/NVG and maybe a 12x FLIR scope for my eye of the reach

Once you practically memorize the map you'll feel good about the limited aid. The game rewards the skilled!
That's what I love about this game tbh. You feel so rewarded learning the layout and finding that X with the first shovel dig "CLINK"

Another thing that's important to keep in mind; As is true of any game, sometimes you just lose mate.
@luna-ev0
I disagree that this game needs "death markers", it was your own choice to swim in the water and you knew the risks. You should have hid the key or remembered very clearly where you where swimming. The only marker you got was the key floating on the water for a couple more minutes.The reason why this doesn't fit Sea of Thieves in my opinion is just the general minimalistic design of all systems. You are the one in control of everything: finding the islands from the maps, sailing the ship, angling the sails in the right direction, figuring out the map and finding the treasure. They could have added markers for all these things, but it is much more immersive if things work as you expect them to.
Claiming that it's bad that SoT doesn't have this because every other game has is a non argument. First of all it's not true at all that every other game has this and Sea of Thieves isn't like every other game. Just stop being salty for losing the skull key, learn from it and move on.
@fishst1ck 1.Not Salty 2.Most game does have that feature 3.I know the Map pretty well and experienced in memorizing the layout but when you have 10miles of water with no Landmarks in a distance ide like to see you do it. And Finally back to topic #1 I took the key from the Galleon and wasnt on planing to let them get it back I wasnt trying to get the loot so either way wether I got it back or it was lost to the sea my goal was completed in Griefing and stoping them from getting there loot and wasting there time ^^ so i didnt lose a single thing just wanted to state that this isnt a pirate simulator 2018 and that this game dosnt have a fit way to be played it has alot of options casue to be perfectly honest if you wanna argue deathmarks not fitting the game neither does spawning back where u died and a ferry of the damed or alot of the things in the game. so maybe drink some water step back and don't be so salty dog ^^

Then why did u post this thread
You all talk about immersion and how things should be done manually but I feel like you all pick and choose your battles. There are mermaids that teleport you across the map when you should be picked up manually by your crew. You are resurrected by a spectral ship and placed on your original ship like nothing happened and yet you argue that something as simple a death indicator is out of the question? I agree that there should be some markers or indicators to where a player died specific to the character. Not shared with the public so others cant grief and troll. It would be helpful to a degree for the pirate that is traveling alone that has no navigator. At the very least you should have a map to carry on your person.
@luna-ev0 said in Death marker / Last died location:
@simplybutta Because the game could use markers regardless. Even simply as X's and O's on the map. Should let you know where you died just a statement on a topic I felt they should implement.
Nah

@simplybutta Cool story brah
I know but it really picks up when u s**u
Bottom line is there is no death marker, and YOU chose to swim into open water in a game YOU knew doesnt have a death marker, this isnt gtaV that marks where u died and spawns u 3 feet from that location, its not on Rare, its on YOU. YOU could have hidden the key on the island theres plenty of spots.

No one getting banned over one “s**u” 🤣😂
@simplybutta You seem kinda Salty..... like 3 comments in a row in less than a minute. . . . But hey man whatever make you make it through the night.
Also, I don't know if you can read properly but yea already stated i was griefing them and didn't care I lost the key just want death markers but again maybe contribute something to the conversation instead of insulting people and just spamming a Forum with salt and intention to just act ignorant

Then once again why make a whole post about it? Prolly more likely that u n ur sloop buddy took 2 hours (cuz ur noobs) to finish off the fort n then the galleon sunk u, then u ran with the key n died. Seems more realistic to me. But i just disagreed with ur idea and u all became super defensive so whos really salty? 🤭 Im just bored on a forum, ur the one keeping this going. Not my fault ur bad at the game

Obviously we need GPS and tracking devices.
You're saying that like our ships don't already have sat-nav. Which I personally think should be removed, but there would be an uproar if they did that I guess.
@simplybutta you should really read (and understand) the Pirate code. You have disrespected many with your comments and should reflect on your behavior. Telling people that they should not speak, screams volumes of your understanding. Especially when all I referenced was how you added nothing to the debate.

And u should realize theres a saying that goes “cool story bro, what chapter do u s**u?” Not my fault u only used 1/2 the joke and set urself up for me to finish it on you... thats what she said.
