PC Hackers need to go

That's lag m8, nothing more nothing less!!

What do you think most "hacks" are? Do you know the simple method to make yourself invincible? Insert lag filters and make your hitbox appear in front of your character. Shooting the character does nothing. This is just the same thing applied to the ship.

  • @korinra
That is just server lag & has happened to me numerous times!!
The game stutters & pauses, becomes unresponsive & causes 'submarining' into the waves. The game then catches up & boosts you forward, normally resulting in a crash like in the video!!

Why would the solo sloop lag himself to crash into the dock??

Ok, so let's put it into real perspective for a moment.
The guy who lags isn't even the one piloting the Sloop, so HIM lagging means nothing if it's JUST lag. If it's JUST lag, he lags for a minute while the helmsman keeps turning, wondering why his friend locks up and just stands on the deck doing nothing, end of story.

Additionally, the wheel is turned sharply into a turn, but the ship decides to teleport miles away to an island that JUST SO HAPPENS to be one you can offload goods on (and in doing so makes sinking irrelevant because you've sold your goods).

ALSO, let's not forget those frames where the boat is completely submerged under water, then decides (because lag?) to pop back up out of the water and be fine until it dry docks on the island.

Oh yeah that kind of thing happens all the time.

  • While I'm never one to normally back @LogansDadToo up...

The footage in that video does look like lag to me too, this looks to be the boat position data not getting back to the client in time so the client does its best to fill in the gaps. It could have just been this player's network connection and the captain could have just not been looking or even aiming for the dock....

All in all, we have no context for the video.

  • @korinra
Yes it does happen all the time!!
As i said, i've had it happen plenty & i'm sure many others have encountered it!

The wheel was turned sharply, but if you listen you can hear the wheel hitting centre point repeatedly. So the helmsman has got the sloop straight but the game lags severely causing all the glitches etc
The sloop continues straight into the island while the 2 pirates have lagged out & can't move!!
Also they didn't dry dock, they smashed into the pier & probably started to sink!

    "15 years huh?
That's something I guess but I've been a gamer for more than double that time. I'm 47 years old and been around and played since the very begining."

... 47 years old... And still mentally young enough to say stuff like this:
"The implementation of crossplay has exposed xbox gamers to be forced to play with PC players who can, will and do employ hacks."

I refuse to believe a 47 year old human would actually think every single PC player in the world is a hacker... Because i want to believe those with more life experience are wise enough not to generalize a group of people in that manner.

"PC Hackers not PC players please discard your silly misconception for I made no claims that all PC players are hackers."

Yes you did, the proof is in your Original Post. The very part i quoted in this very comment. You probably didn't mean to say it, but poor phrasing can mess up your intended message, bro. : /

"Or that people can't decearn the reality of what constitutes proof of a hack being employed."

We're not saying hackers don't exist, we're saying most of those complaining about hackers on a forum, are sore losers who have a hard time admitting loss unless they accuse someone of hacking... Because here's a statistic fact, most cases of people accusing other people of hacking in games (universally world wide) are false for the very reason i just specified... Some are true of course, but MOST are false.

This is why people don't instantly believe you, especially since you called every PC player in the world hackers... There's a clear bias behind what you said, so people don't believe you are speaking the truth.

People aren't quick to believe "hackusations" mate... So don't freak out if people do this:

"Anyway the the fact is hacking is an actual issue in SoT and people like me know it."

Everyone on this forum knows this... They just don't believe your individual case, because of your hackusation that every PC player in the world is a hacker... Which means you are biased, which means people will doubt what you say.

Next time you post on the forums, don't rant, post as if you are without emotion, be like Spock, lol. If you suspect someone of hacking, don't post on the forums about it... Report the hackers to Rare, and they will deal with it.

    Have a good day! :)

Don't worry, these post will disappear when optional crossplay is implemented.

lol.. You speak of "when".. When really you should speak of "if".. Because i can assure you that it will not.

Fair point, the video in the first 2 second search I did isn't DEFINITIVE proof of anything. I'll bow to that. I will say, anyone who's played Modern Warfare II on Xbox (a non-crossplatform game) will agree hacking was EXTREMELY prevalent on there, so it's a definite POSSIBILITY that it's hacking.

I'm sorry but with networking knowledge and understanding from a professional standpoint, I can't think of a situation where lag (defined as the dropping of packets of information between server and client) would simultaneously affect two people in such a way that they also experience freezing (sometimes also referred to erroneously as lag, but can be correctly called "graphics lag", where the screen freezes while loading, dropping video frames) on multiple people but allows the helmsman to somehow ALSO control the boat to straighten it out.

From my standpoint, it looks like they triggered a packet update that teleports the boat to the island that is miles in the background, and in doing so they now have to update their draw distance to the new location which causes the freezing effect (which is basically the Xbox's video card drawing the entire terrain that SUDDENLY appeared).

As stated, it's just my theory based on how networking and PCs USUALLY work (and yes, an Xbox is a PC, just a highly specialized one designed to play Xbox games). Beyond that, I personally KNOW people who have (and possibly still) hack Xbox exclusive titles in online play. It's not hard to do, you just need a modded Xbox (which isn't hard to get). Hell you can use the USB ports to do it.

Bottom line, hacking on an Xbox1 IS possible, this MIGHT be a demonstration of it being done, and because it can be done to some games, it CAN be done to ALL games. So the fact is, Xbox players CAN hack.

  • @Korinra Please refrain from posting screenshots directing people to hacks, it is still considered to be sharing hacks, and is a violation of the Forum rules. We have removed the image accordingly.

  • @korinra
Modern Warfare II was an xbox 360 title, & i will admit, the 360 was rife with hackers etc, but that is not the case on xbox one.
Modded Xbox Ones are not available, if you can get them i would suggest selling them on, as you wold be the only person on the planet who could get them!
No one has managed to hack the security measures on the xbox one, if they have it is not public knowledge & nowhere will you find any information i can assure you of that ;)

Lag switch maybe, but you don't use a lag switch on yourself, so maybe the galleon that disappeared used a lag switch on the sloop, that in my eyes would make more sense!
I don't have networking knowledge, so who am i to say, but as i satated earlier i have had almost identical things happen to me more than once & i know i'm not hacking.

  • @katttruewalker

Sad part is most of the real rough hacks you can't get close enough to get a nametag to even report and even w/fix on recent players showing, I bet 1 in 10 players that I come across that are PC do not show in my recent list to report even if I wanted to. So I guess to venture at the moment a small small portion are getting reported. With the new fix of nametags hidden underwater fixing to drop this problem will only get worse. Sad...

  • @breeza369 I've said it a few times already over a few posts in this forum.

I, as a PC player will 95% of the time destroy a "Slow Turner / Console player".
But as far as ship battles?, it's well pretty balanced. If you are getting rolled by PC players?, there is no problem with running away.

This is Rare's game. Crossplay was fully intended and should stay to help bridge the gaps between the platforms. New friends are always a good thing!.

So, now that you have picked his post apart in a very salty child like manner know this. You just generalized everyone on this post.

Realize that not everyone sees it your way. Frankly the grown folks just don't always agree with you. Deal with it and spare us your double standard.

  • You guys should actually report cheating with documentation to RARE. I don't understand the point of these threads.

No duh, cheating has gotta go.

Instead of trying to get this forums mob mentality thing going which solves nothing why not take your concerns directly to who can do something about them. Quit sailing into the wind.

  • @captgraykid

"So, now that you have picked his post apart in a very salty child like manner know this."

I was in no way salty... I'm still not salty... I was actually trying to help.

"You just generalized everyone on this post."

I'm not 47 years old... Even if i was, proving hypocrisy is not exactly valid given the context of the argument, so i don't know why you would mention it to begin with. ._.

"Everyone on this forum knows this..."

Are you seriously pulling a kindergarden tactic on me? The whole "i'm rubber, you're glue" thing? ._.

    But why though?

"They just don't believe your individual case, because of your hackusation that every PC player in the world is a hacker... Which means you are biased, which means people will doubt what you say."

I literally didn't say that though, ever? ._.
If you're trying to make a point, i'm not seeing it... There's too much overreaction blocking the view.

"Realize that not everyone sees it your way."

I was talking about those who DO see it my way...

"Frankly the grown folks just don't always agree with you."

I'm sorry, i never really made a point that people could disagree with to begin with, i was trying to help him understand the other people in this thread that he was feeling attacked by.

I've got a feeling that you are reacting to a different comment, but accidentally replied on mine, i am thoroughly confused right now. xD

"Deal with it and spare us your double standard."

What are you talking about? xD

Edit: Were you trying to quote me, but forgot the quotation marks? o_.

  • @lord-salty-dog I don't even know what that means, but I hope so, too. You better have loot on you, though. Wouldn't wanna sink ya for no reason ;D lol.

  • @wodyo you really have nothing better to do than follow me around trying to start? If your definition of a cheat is an elastic band on a controller then well, i have no words. Every single hacker and cheater on this game is a pc user, does that mean every pc user is a cheat or hacker, no it most certainly does not. Time for YOU to brush up on that reading comprehension.

  • Been playing on both X and PC. Never encountered a cheater that I have registered. I am however a much better player when playing on my PC. I'm faster and more precise in everything. It's easy to see when I encounter Xbox players when I'm on my PC.

9 of 10 times I come triumphant out of a battle against controller users using my mouse & keyboard and with twice the framerate and lower latency.

I'm not following you around. They make medication for paranoia, you know?

Making blanket statements, such as "Every single hacker and cheater on this game is a pc user," is supremely naive, of the utmost ignorance, and ultimately shows your bias against PC users. Give it up, already.

Yes, rubber-banding is cheating. Not all "hacks" in life are software driven. Learn to think outside of the box.

  • @wodyo i have no bias against pc players thankyou, i game with a few, my opinions on crossplay have no bearing on anything else. If you even took the time to read the post you replied to, i was actually linking to a previous topic that could explain most (if not all) the cheating accusations, why would i do that if i had this obvious disdain for the pc community? I wouldn’t quite simply. Feel free to go here and no doubt they are just wrong... more pc advantage?

  • You're still doing it... acting like xbox players don't cheat. It's absurdly naive.
