As we know people in the Brig are earning while all the others do all the work. Is it not possible to cease earning and gaining XP while in the brig from the time someone is put in the brig?

@dresh let them out and ask them nicely to help out.... if they let people get brigged without rewards it would get abused massively what they should have though is a method to report bad players and ban them from getting in your games in future....
And don't get so butthurt its a little gold so what if the lazy guys gets a little its easy enough to change session and you wont see him again for atleast a few hours if ever....
@dresh Let them out of the brig to help you and tell them how to do better if they did something wrong to cause the brigging. Keep in mind that in the majority of cases people brig others permanently to grief them into logging out to make room for a lazy friend that wants to reap thevrewards the brigged personnworked hard for (often without telling them why they even brigged them). It's good as it is, those that stick around should get rewards, otherwise brig abuse would be even worse.
@dresh
No and let me explain why.The point of the brig is to basically put a teammate on “Adult Time-Out” because they were a bad Pirate and need to learn their lesson.
It is NOT meant to have people kept in there till they leave! I get brigged all the time with my group of friends because I troll them. What do they do? Lock me in the brig for a bit. They usually lock me as we are turning in because I have a bad habit of seeing a crewmate walking with a gunpowder barrel and shooting it :)
Does this mean I should get no loot? No! They are locking me in the brig all in good fun. Hell, sometimes they forget and I blow them up and we start a whole gunpowder war for the rest of our day where if you are carrying a barrel you are going to blow up!
The brig is meant to be used for some good laughs, not as an actual jail.

I thought about the post when I was the one in the brig (so it has zero to do with being butthurt), for no reason apart from being trolled by a crew so I just afk'd and earned the xp and cash (the kind of situation Zaannox stated) . There was absolutely no motivation for me to leave (or even to be let out the brig). I just fired on the end of the movie I never finished the previous night on the other monitor and moved my character every so often so as not to be kicked.
Even if I was on the other side in this occasion why should I (and crew) quit out when halfway through a high level voyage because of the bad behaviour of a single crew member?
With the impending update to invite only/private/filtered (ie mic only) boats the type of abuse we see to try and force someone to leave should be vastly limited.
Currently if the brig is used as it was intended to be there is still no motivation to change behaviour:
Don't leave = money & XP
Don't change negative behaviour = money & XPIf a player logs on to the last slot on a galleon say and does nothing but mess about and cause problems they can still earn the same XP and money as the hard working crew. If you could put them in the brig and they wouldn't earn a penny then it is more likely to motivate them to either change their behaviour or leave.

Erm, no, the brig is not just there for fun. If you and your pals use it for fun then that's fine but it's actually there for a reason.
@zeckur I'm not saying it shouldn't be used for fun. Myself and friends also use it for fun realitvly frequently but my pals wouldn't leave me in there while they earn all the money for themselves "just for fun".
I think the brig is there so that Rare feel they don't need to put in an expensive in game reporting system but in it's current iteration it only really punishes the "law abiding" players. Not only do they have to work with one less crew member they also have do it safe in the knowledge that the guy in the brig (for whatever reason) is progressing off their hard graft.
@dresh problem is people will abuse any kind of kick or reporting feature even if the non party member is more beneficial than their friend would be... My suggestion would be to allow an "invite only" option for ship so they don't get randoms if that is their issue.

I guess you don't keep up with any SoT news, this is something they are due to implement. I'm hoping along with the Hungering Deep update (hopefully tomorrow?)

@dresh I have 3 kids so I try to read all I can but some things slip through my sight.
I know that feeling well!
@theskunkymonk
Letting people out, is not a good idea.
They run up in the crows nest, getting gun powder and blow the ship up.
Then leave the game.@dresh jeah well its not like there are griefing idiots out there putting u in the brig for nothing. happend to me quite a few times. so well its just fair that u earn in the brig.
