The sky; always pretty until it's ugly.

  • (Would that be considered a haiku? Huh. Well, I didn't know what else to title this topic, so there y'go.)

A common complaint among my friends is the change in atmosphere that surrounds The Wilds. At first I didn't mind it so much, 'cause I just happen to like that kind of thing, but over time I've come to see why it's so jostling. Both The Ancient Isles and The Shores of Plenty share a clear blue sky on most days, and yet when you enter The Wilds it's inexplicably usurped by something akin to pea soup pockmarked by a thick cloud cover. (You play the game, so you should know this already.)

What if a different kind of atmospheric effect was used to differentiate The Wilds from the rest of the map, like a layer of haze or fog that would nigh require you to leave your vessel's lights on in order to safely navigate around the numerous uncharted rocks in the region? The sky that's associated with it now could be handed over to the Kraken instead, meaning that players would only see that sickly green color whenever they happen to be within its sphere of influence. Either that, or it could be an annual occurrence that encompasses the entire map exclusively during the month of October, like how snow only ever appears in Grand Theft Auto Online during the month of December.

    Whaddya think?

  • I personally hate The Wilds scenario, whenever I get a quest that sends me there I simply cancel it and try to find in another location other than that.

I think they could change it a bit, instead of that murkyish weather it could be foggy like you said or snowing idk, that murky weather makes sad. But that's only my opinion, there could be some players that actually like it

  • @rvallez I don't know about snowing, but it would be great if there was a fourth region up to the North that was like that. Snow, ice that you could get stuck in and have to whack away at with your sword in order to free yourself, and the occasional stray iceberg as well!

  • I feel that shores o plenty should have clear sky's, wilds should be slightly raining where it doesn't fill up your boat, and ancient isles should be light fog!

  • Long time solo pirate. The Wilds come in handy. Being able to blend in with formations and islands is what I find appealing. The other places are wonderfully stunning to sail in. When it comes time to put work in its to the wilds for me.
