Don’t Play With A Random

  • Ye been warned there’s a lot of salty pirates in this community willing to do anything to fill their buckets up with salt tears.
Last night was sailing with my 2 friends on a galleon we had an open slot at which randoms kept joining in. My friends and I were tirelessly working on a fort that we had found fighting off another galleon and two sloops working together to cause mayhem.

Considering most of the time we were down a player from a random joining and leaving cause they prob didn’t see the fort.... Our ship sunk prob 4-5 times all in all.

Still we managed to get the key. Stash the key while fighting off 3 ships. We eventually open the door to stash the loot on the island cause we almost sunk right as we opened the door.

Finally we get everything on the ship a random joins and he helps us load it up. We send him a party invite he joins and we start sailing to an outpost.

We get to the outpost and that random that just joined he threw all of the Skeleton fort loot off the back of the ship as we went to port. It was getting late and we had two sloops chasing us into port. When we saw our treasure was gone we didn’t really care... we were griefed by a random.... I know the rules on this forum state that you can’t call any players out but these type of ppl should have their own thread.. “Stay away from these people.”
Side Note- We record everything so we have it all on footage.

    TLDR:
We were griefed after a 3 hour fort by our teammate.

That's a pretty bad experience indeed. I've been playing the game almost exclusively with random people and haven't experienced anything like this though, just some dude blowing up a gunpowder barrel inside the ship while we were unloading it.

Can I ask why didn't you just go for the 3 man galleon instead of leaving a spot open? It would have saved you a lot of headache.

  • Had someone join my sloop to throw my merchant loot off the back and leave game...

Cant figure out why or how thats just possible but damn that should be a instaban for this sort of behavior

To be fair all the friends I've made in this game have been "randoms" at some point to me. I too have never experienced someone like this. I guess it is lesson learned don't give the benefit of the doubt to the randoms anymore. Either brig em if you're on a 4 man galleon and you cant trust them. Or like you said just run a 3 man galleon. I can tell you one thing though we will definitely be keeping a closer eye on the loot from now on. Arrrgh

  • These posts keep surprising me. I didn't play with randoms yet (either I play with friends or solo) but it sounds really bad.

If that guy was just a random a*s, he could get free fort gold but he decided to throw it off the ship, which is pretty dumb. I guess I can't really understand the mindset of griefers or "trolls". Sounds to me like a big waste of time for everyone (including the griefer).

However, I remember seeing a post here not long ago about people who leave their crew, join someone else's crew (that they had in their history) and drop the loot off the ship so their teammate who is still on the old ship could take it. Then they go back and sell the loot. Might have been the case here.

Anyway, make sure you block any player that acts this way so you don't have to play with him again.

We thought this exact thing! Though come to find out all of our privacy settings on xbox live don't allow for random people to join us in game. They have to be a friend. Quite frankly this was just some random guy. He pretended to be nice at first and load up the ship. When he saw two sloops behind us he thought it would be funny to dump off the loot to them.. What's even more funny is the sloops were so preoccupied with sinking us they didn't even see the stronghold chest or skull they sailed right over....

  • @ricklames02 rough dude. I have never had this experience. I agree with what the 1 guy said this is next level griefing. He actually was committed, he sacrificed his own success for your failure. I can't say I blame you for swearing off randoms because they come with their fair share of headaches but I've made countless friends on Xbox live with this game. All randoms at the start but now regulars.

  • Random=RNG.

    Win some, lose some.

You really spent 3 hours grinding for, 10k?

I duo randomed a sloop. Met another sloop at a fort. We helped each other and evenly split the loot. Maybe 15 minutes? Idk, I don't fort much..

I felt like my rando buddy was going to betray them but we all worked together instead. Point is it's luck mate.

I keep seeing these multiple hour fort threads. If you're past an hour and still fighting over 10k heck even 15k is 250g/minute which isn't exactly great..

I don't play for money, but don't come here saying your goal is a fort after 3 hours and multiple sinks, it's a pride/ego stunt at that point.

Which is fine, play how you want exactly, for fun hopefully. But don't make false claims..

Edit: random trolling? Log out and duo or trio.. use the gdang tools provided instead of asking for more when we barely have a start screen..

  • How did they manage to throw the loot overboard without alarming anyone?

I think you posted in the wrong thread :p
