Lookout Point Assault [Idea]

  • Lookout Point Assault (LPA) is a PvP-centered idea that would be implemented to current gameplay. The premise is slightly similar to domination modes on the various shooting games, with significant differences.

Two Lookout Points would be added to either side of the map. Crews 'assault' each point by clearing the skeletons present, then holding the point uninterrupted for a period of time (ex: 2 minutes). If held for the full period of time, they 'capture' that point and sail to the second point and attempt to capture it as well. When a crew arrives at a LP captured by another crew, they must remain there long enough to remove the previous capture, then capture it for themselves. A new wave of skeletons spawn each time a capture is removed. If one crew has captured both points, treasure is made available to that crew, and both Lookout Points are placed on a 30 minute cool down.

The Lookout Points themselves would function as lighthouses; when available for capture, a skeleton on top of the central tower could omit a light, designed to notify all ships that it's available. Once captured, torches along the outer walls would be lit, notifying distant ships that it's captured, which would encourage those interested to sail over and take control.

The benefits of this type of system are many. It's a consistent source of both treasure and PvP that forces crews to interact at two specific locations and the sea between them. Such a system would appeal to the players who tend to lean more towards the PvP side of SoT, and would give them something to battle over between skeleton forts. This also keeps the PvP-minded players in the same world as players that prefer PvE, which is crucial.

Looking forward to any thoughts, improvements or feedback.
