Being able to change your character model

  • I’ll keep this short and to the point

You should be able to change your character model without having to start a new game. One of the ways you could do this could be by paying some amount of gold to the order of souls. As they are involved with the spooky magic stuff. You could pay them to bring up the pirate character wheel to choose a new character model.
    • if you think this is a good idea or think it should be different let me know.

  • @sunburntbone2 I agree with that, because it's just the most difficult part in the game eight now to select the best body shape to your pirate. It's just so difficult choice. Someone maybe uses hours to get the best body shape, because you can't change it later.

  • To be honest I probably wouldn't have chosen my pirates scars or tattoos, but as I have played her I have come to like these things about her, and I think these add a really fun and interesting narrative to the pirate you play... however i would probably like to change her face... It could be a good idea to add a form of customisation after attaining legendary status possibly through the order of souls, allowing you to change some things about your pirate such as face, hair colour, eye colour etc. This would mean that you have to play through a lot of the game with your character as they are, giving you time to learn to like certain things you wouldn't necessarily choose for yourself, it could also be a one time thing, so you can only change your character the one time.
I just think this might be a good way of allowing people to customise their characters without compromising the random pirate generator.

  • I hate the "Infinite" Pirate Generator, I spent over an hour trying to pick an avatar, but it kept giving me the same 4 ugly choices, until I finally just picked the best available.
If they don't let you go back to the wheel, they should at least add more shops, so that players can at least change their avatar's characteristics... Like a tattoo parlor.

  • A dev said on Twitter that they are working on being able to change appearance without deleting your character stats

  • @sunburntbone2 Whilst I'm loving the game (we've bought three copies in my house so we can play together) I was very disappointed with the character creation process. This element is something which is pretty fundamental to most games these days giving each player a greater level of immersion in each game (I've spent hours going through creation menus to get my character just so), but this is even more important with a social multiplayer game, and, given that this social element is core to Rare's vision for the game, seems a horrendous omission.

  • I spent a total of 10 hours and 17 minutes in the Pain Generator, getting a good looking female character.
Call me crazy if you want, but if I am going to be stuck with 1 character for the entirety of my time in the game, I want a good looking one, and I did get one. It just took a long friggin time.

  • @sunburntbone2 or you could go to the clothing shop and they have a surgeon from which you can change your features, gender, scars, tattoos, and body style if you want kind of similar to fallout 4 but much more simplified.

  • +1 to this, in a game where appearance is so important you should choose how you look like.

I agree with the idea of only one “skin”, so changing apperance should be abolished or be an exclusive thing, maybe it could be a service that cost real money. The first one should be free for all pirates created by the random process.

  • I would love to have another go at the IPG, even if it takes me three hours to find the right pirate for me.

@bobbythemod Where can I find this tweet?
