Xbox One X Slower Than PC

  • I know PC's have the ability to be more powerful than an Xbox One X however having the lastest console with all the power it has you would have thought that it would load up pretty quick. I play 50/50 in my crew normally 2 PC and 2 Xbox player and they seem to load up a lot quicker into the game than me on the X.

Nor sure what other people think to this but seems a little crazy when playing the X compared to a PC that is 2-3 years old and it still loads into the game quicker than me.

  • @corn-wolf Well on PC you can play around with the graphics for faster loading. There is also SSD hardrives which improves loading times alot.

  • Wait, why would you think that the Xbox One X is fast?

The Xbox One X has a CPU out of AMD's mobile range with just 2Ghz and a GPU that is based on the Polaris chip from 2 generations ago. Plus it doesn't use a SSD as primary storage but a HDD which is stuff you haven't seen in a gaming PC since at least 2 years.

My Nokia 3330 is probably faster than an Xbox One X and it can play Snake.

  • Step 1: Understand that consoles trade effectiveness for convenience.
Step 2: If this bothers you, never buy another console.

  • Me and my crew are all pc and by the time they have loaded into the game and down to the ship i have already loaded all cannons sorted our colours/sails/figurehead and around the outpost rummaging for stuff.I am the only one that has the game on a ssd and it makes one hell of a difference..

  • Having the game on an external SSD for Xbox greatly improves load time for me. I usually load in about 20 seconds before xbox users on a normal hard drive. The price for an SSD became a bit more reasonable when you use an internal version but purchase a hard drive enclosure to stick it in. Still is not as quick as PC players but it is still an improvement.

I've noticed the same thing. It's disk speed for sure.

  • I have a different question concerning loading time.

Does the loading time it takes once you die affect your respawn in an unfair way? Once you step through the door it defenetly does when you compare two loading times . but my fear is that once you die and have to load the ship of the dead, your respawn counter starts only after you fully loaded onto the ship.

  • Ugh, I was afraid of this.

    1. I have a PC that is more than capable of running this game, I choose the console because it's easier sometimes when in the living room and sorting out parties etc.

    2. It doesn't make sense about the load time's, I understand about SSD's etc I was just stating that it's an issue on the all the Xbox's that it loads up a lot slower and possibly could be improved or looked at by Rare.

  • @corn-wolf Unfortunately you cannot really fix a hardware difference. They can attempt to optimize the game better for the console, but we have already seen a huge hit in graphics and rendering.

While I agree it loads quite a bit slower, it is not impacting playing the game that I can see. Loading in and syncing all seem to be fine, it just takes 20 seconds longer.

Now IF there is an issue during respawn it definitely needs to be evaluated and fixed. Otherwise just loading in, I don't think should be that big of a priority.

  • @corn-wolf Good news is you can install it on both. SoT is play anywhere.

there actually is a answer to your question about load speeds blame Microsoft Now i can tell you why sony allows anyone to mod there playstation Microsoft does not you can install any size hard drive or install a ssd in a playstation Microsoft bans any alterations
xbox is not 2-3 years older then a computer or playstation 4 it is 63 years older then any computer or playstation 4

  • @corn-wolf the thing is that a 2-3 old pc with the best hardware at the time is still better for gaming than the latest console.

  • I recently added an SSD to my OG Xbox one, and now load in faster than my PC friends. The ones who don't have an SSD of their own of course. It's amazing, load times are literally cut in half.

  • @corn-wolf I mean the newest consoles are using at least two year old mid range pc parts so it kind of makes sense. More seriously though the times seem to vary hugely, I have a friend on an X who mostly loads at about the same pace I do. Sometimes though I'm longer sometimes he's longer, this makes me feel like its less about your device and more something about the server.

I use an SSD on my XBX and I load in 30 seconds before my friends.

  • It definitely does load faster than any of the other xbox units though.

Don't know why you expected it would outperform a PC

  • @corn-wolf xb1x is almost the same as a xbone cpu wise etc ... it only as a better gpu and menmory use for high res rendering its still a low end pc cpu wise

  • @stew360 Thats incorrect, the cpu on the x is significantly(1.75ghz vs 2.3 ghz) faster though it does have the same 8 cores and the GPU is like some 4 or 5 times more powerful than the original one. The whole package is almost approaching the power of a decent gaming laptop from 2017

  • @mrbrocksego lol so untrue meaningless to argue ALL of the money in the Xbox One X is focused on graphics, though its CPU has gotten a boost over the standard Xbox One.

Compared to a desktop CPU, the Xbox One X's CPU will be a substantial bottleneck. The eight Jaguar CPU cores will offer one-half to one-third the performance of AMD's new Ryzen CPUs. As we wrote when the Scorpio specs were first revealed, all eight cores working together will maybe roughly equal the performance of an Intel i3 CPU.

Scorpio's GPU has 40 customized compute units clocked at 1172MHz; and Scorpio boasts a generous 12GB of GDDR5 RAM with a memory bandwidth of 326GB/s—substantially higher than the 8GB and 256GB/s of AMD's RX 580 PC graphics card. To get that kind of memory on a PC graphics card, you'll have to step up to a GeForce Titan Xp. Keep in mind, however, that on the Xbox One X the memory is split between GPU and system, with Microsoft recently saying developers will be able to use 9GB of the GDDR5 RAM.8 xbonex as been architech around handling high res textures but not to deliver more cpu power cant be compare anything but a intel i3 cpu wich is very low end ...

  • @corn-wolf Yeah my 4 year old PC loads the game significant faster. When I die I come back to the fight much faster also because of this. I also get 60+ fps giving me a ~17ms advantage on everything that happens just by the fps alone. On top of that I have superior reaction time and movement with a keyboard & mouse.

The difference and how I can play when I move between my Xbox One X and my PC is BIG. No wonder Xbox gamers are getting robbed and sunk by PC players...Xbox players dont stand a chance.

  • @stew360 I don't see how thats a reply to what I said since you kind of seem to be agree disagreeing with me. But yes....

  • @binaryplayerone with the horrible ping 80 to 140 of this game ... the fps does not give any real advantage since this game isnt pure clientside hit reg so yeah if a console player get rob its because they are bad

  • @corn-wolf use an external drive. Internal works for what it is, but it's only 5400 RPM

  • of course pc loads faster.

pc will always have better hardware than a console.

they arent going to add an artificial wait time to pc players just to make console players feel better.

if you want better hardware, buy better hardware.

  • @corn-wolf I'm glad you worded as such "PC's have the ability" and not "all PCs are faster".
As I for one, have a very low end PC of only 18 months since new. I find that EVERYBODY loads into game faster than me. lol Well, those I have played with.

I'm sure I'm not the only "broke-a**e poor" PC user in SoT.
With the graphics turned down low, not as any advantage but to actually be able to play the game smoothly, everything is a lot darker at night and it doesn't display all items.

Believe it or not, I had recently swam over two crates inside a shipwreck saying "nothing down here" before my mate was standing in front of both crates with his lantern on saying "they are right here" but I could not see either of them on my system.
To me and my PC, the crates simply did not exist until he had them on our sloop.
I emailed him the recorded video of our game session and he couldn't believe the drastic difference between our systems. Not only were the crates visible in the recording, looking right at where he was standing, but he also informed me that my screen was MUCH darker than his.

It makes us wonder just how much loot I have missed seeing since launch.

  • Just changing that HDD to a SSD makes all the difference when it comes to loading times. I remember back playing BF4 with a friend, before I had an SSD. I would always hear him playing while i'm still chuggin away at the loading screen.
