Random Skeletons spawn WAAAAAAAAY too much.

  • Seriously, the spawn rate on these things is ridiculous. Is this just a high-level thing I need to accept, or was something broken in the last update? I'm not talking about the waves in a fort, or the ones that spawn as part of a bounty (which, they CAN spawn while your fighting bounty skeletons, and THAT is just horse c**p). I'm talking about the ones that spawn when you're just walking around an island, or that have a chance to spawn whenever you break ground on a chest.

    I'm doing an X-map on Wanderer's Refuge solo, 5 chests. 6 skeletons randomly spawned in the general area of the first chest. 7 more popped up as soon as I found it. Groups of 4+ spawned on EVERY chest I found, and 2 more groups spawned randomly in-between dig sites. In the 15-ish minutes I was there, I had to kill over 35 skeletons, most of whom took more than 3 hits, just to get all my treasure. Probably would have been closer to 5 were it not for the Skeletons. I feel like I should have gotten a skull on top of it, but nope, because skeletons drop nothing, and the only reason to fight them is to rid yourself of an annoyance that the game dropped on you for literally no reason whatsoever.

    It's probably the reason why pirates prefer to sail the seas, so cursed skeletal pirates spawning everywhere on the open ocean. xD

    I think we all know what you mean, just being on an island spawns like 3 skeletons every minute, and when digging up a mere castaways chest, 7 bloody skeletons spawn to protect it like it was priceless treasure hahaha! I cri everytiem! :D

    On a serious note, it may likely be a high level thing we need to accept, but i'd like Rare to systemize it based on the situation in question, like only spawn 7 skeletons if you are digging up a cursed chest of captains chest, and only spawn a max of 3 when digging up a castaways chest... Just so it makes more sense. x]

    I have the same experience, lols... I personally enjoy the combat, keeps things somewhat fresh, but i agree they might have to tone it down a smidge or, as i suggested, make the spawning make sense based on the situation specifically so it at least makes sense.

  • Yeeeees - spot on. I enjoy the random skeleton spawns every now and then but at this point it's about 90% of the time and it just becomes annoying.

    Now my strategy is find chest, dig once, pull out sword immediately, kill skeletons, dig chest. The reason I'm doing Gold Hoarders is because I want to dig for chests, not fight skeletons, that's what the Order of Souls is for...

  • I had the same thought the other day. Had a map with 6 X's and I couldn't even get from one to the other without 3+ skeletons spawning, and the island was tiny. Took more time to fight skeletons than dig up all the chests.

    Also, the skeletons that spawn when you dig up a chest should be scaled based on the chest type. I dug up a castaway and 4 skeletons spawned around it.Then I dig up a Chest of Sorrows and nothing spawns...
