Loot Prices

  • Aye fellow pirates, I might have just discovered something very interesting about the price of loot. So I was doing some gold hoarder voyages and I picked up 4 captains chests along the way. I had all the loot I gathered sorted out in the order that I had collected it. And when I turned them in I noticed that my chests sold for more depending on when I had collected them. For example the very first captains chest I found sold for 937 gold but the last one I had found only sold for 711 gold. That same theory was true with all of my chests, the ones I had for the longest time sold for the most. This makes me wonder, does the loot you have on your ship slowly go up in price the longer you hold on to it? I am certainly going to test this out some more but I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Have a great day my fellow pirates, and remember to keep on pirating!

  • @minininja2121 only one way to find out. I have seen a streamer turn a chest in that he had for like 3 hours and it was worth a lot of gold

  • Very interesting theory, question is do they gain value on the ship only or can i they hide on an island and redeem it later?

  • once you get to lvl 30 gold doesn't matter you'll have 150k and not know what to do with it... it's the xp you need and maybe it needs a boost or do something about getting castaway chests in a lvl 35 quest...

  • @shokugeki-kid whats the point of your post?

  • @finanzminister that i doesn't matter how much you get from the chests it's how much xp you get

  • @finanzminister but it seems that you're not high lvl to know this problem

  • @shokugeki-kid you seem to have missed the point of the OPs post. Besides, it could also have an effect on XP.

  • Interesting post Op, would be something if that turned out to be the case.

  • @shokugeki-kid what problem? We dont talk about reputation we talking about game mechanics.

    You should learn to read.

  • Could you be looking at it wrong? Maybe the chests are decreasing in value based on how many you've turned in recently? For example, if you're doing too many Gold Hoarders voyages, could the game be throttling your XP gains, the same way Destiny 2 was doing?

  • How does a thread like this bring about salty waters... I don't get it sometimes.

However I am currently testing this and I will update the post after I can confirm or deny this theory.

  • Might want to look into it. I can tell you its not the same for merchant animals.
Me and my brother at start and low lvl first voyage cancel till we had about 20 chicken crates then collect as many gold chickens as possible to turn in back and forth to outposts. even when the chickens were on the deck around the same amount of time they would fluctuate between 1000-1700.

It is true once you get higher ranked the coin no longer matters, the exp rate is all that matters.

  • @charity-diary cant confirme such behavior, we kicked skull butts for 6 hours and couldn’t see any noticeable decrease in our faction reputation. (The higher you get the more you need but a day after it was about the same gain)

Edit: I just assume the mechanic on soul quests is the same as with the gold hoarders.

  • @charity-diary

That is very possible, However I don't believe that to be the case. I know I have gotten around 1300-1400 gold for a single captains chest before and I held onto it for a very long time. The ones I just turned in when I thought of this theory I didn't have for very long. I think I only had the longest one for roughly 40 min or so.

Like I said though I am actually testing this right now and will update later. Could be just the luck of the draw and maybe nothing happens at all.

  • @minininja2121 would be interested to know the outcome on this, because i thought they had simply nerfed captains chests, all mine have sold for no more then 900ish since the BIG patch, but before the cheapest captains i had sold was easily 1.5k
