What is the point of game voice chat when people use Xbox Party chat instead? I mean it's useful when you've got a crew that isn't in an Xbox Party. However, that's how LFG on Xbox works. Default is Xbox Party not Game Chat. It can be switched sure, but do you really want to when you know other rival crews can hear you?
If you're in an Xbox Party Chat, no other crews can hear you.

@x-riddler-x I agree, and my friends and I do the same, we don't use game chat for any games anymore.
My crew used game chat during the alpha and beta phases. But in the full release we are having issues with cyanbeard errors kicking some of us randomly from the game. So we need to be in party chat to warn the others that one of us has dropped in a crucial moment. The other issue is that PC players have an unfair advantage in being able to hear players in game chat while they are in party chat. It's really sad that this hasn't been fixed for the full release.
Xbox party chat just works. I play with a mix of PC and Xbox users and the in-game chat has always been temperamental. Sometimes it was us PC users who couldn't talk, sometimes it was the Xbox users. On our first game, we wasted 45 minutes trying to get everyone talking in-game, but it just wasn't happening. It's not really an issue for me, as being on PC I can use both.
Always switching with my group to game chat, because it's fun to do pirate voice impersonation when boarding the enemy ship. We create the real pirate experience for you :P, you're welcome. Let's not forget that soon there will be a speaking trumped added to the game, which will let ships communicate at a distance. This should make more people use game chat.
Several reasons but the main reason is when you’re kicked out of the game for whatever error/code/bug, you maintain your communication abilities. That can be important, especially when you’re not playing with people you know, you lag out and possibly forget their gamertag(s) and by the time you’ve figured it out, they’ve already replaced you.
