Merchant alliance Nerf?

  • So if the change to being able to drop merchant quests and pick up infinitely meant to be? I think this is dumb because it makes it even harder to level it in comparison to gold and souls.

Gold and souls may have the chance to give c**p rewards but at least you can carry and do all three without the need to stop.

So now with merchants if you don't get anything in those three quests you have to go to a different outpost or do your c****y one. If this is permanent you should make animal spawns on the islands consistent. Example being an island that Ive seen all three animals will always have all three. Which as far as I've seen that is currently not the case.

Something needs to be done to compensate the slow crawl that faction already was and is even more now.

  • Is this for real? I have not done any merchant voyages since the update. I am going to have to read through the release notes again...

  • I was wondering the same thing. It's pretty dumb imo, but I guess I can see why they'd do it since you can't just swap around the others for strictly just Villainous Skulls and upper tier chests. (Not that I'm proud of it, but you can always just leave and re-enter the game if you're alone and cycle through Voyages until you get them.)

  • @ironnative25 I can see why they would do it too but not unless there was some bigger fix to the merchant voyages. I guess I will just have to wait until I get home to test it out. If this is true I guess I will no longer do merchant voyages until more meaningful changes are made.

Hopefully it is just a bug though but knowing Rare it likely is not.

  • @lifewcoke I could see why as well if I wasn't level 28 getting 2 chicken missions.

  • Well I mostly sail in the galleon, so we do it like this,
First we get a bunch of cages, then we do OoS voyage first, then maybe some Gold hoarder, until we fell we have something good to turn in.
An then we start the Merchant Voyage, most of the time, it will lead you to the closed outpost(if you have been sailing around, an not the same where u pick up the voyage)
But i think Merchant is good that way, an depending on game session(hr)
Then after the first "long" voyage, u already have all the chickens, gunpowder, an snakes, so you only have to get some pigs now an then.
But im lvl 28 merchant, an the gunpowder is where the easy money is + if u are a solo/duo, and u are getting attack u will leave nothing behind loot, an you will have sea "mines" for pursuing galleons

  • @greencamillion1 I'm just getting angry and burnt out. I play solo and my luck sucks. Nothing like doing a lvl 25 Horder and getting a castaway and a riddle that's not working. Hard to find a serious partner that grinds hard.

  • Oh jease, I haven't seen any info on them nerfing it. What they need is a complete overhaul. Stacking crates makes it tedious but at least doable.

  • @wickd-gamr Well we are not "grinding" away, we do it in that order, an if a fort pops up, we gonna go get it, but the main thing is laughing ;) goofing around.
But I didn't knew any of the main crew im sailing with, an they didn't know one another
an even a "enemy" pirate has sneak his way in to the friends list, cause he did something cool that killed one of us, an was a good fighter.

I don't say it easy to find the cream de la cream players, but got ours lock down.
