Though I don't like ur CAPS.. I agreed 100%. I was a hardcore fan but day after day the grind and empty feeling finally got to my friends and I. We will be taking a long break. Honestly I didn't want to agree with any of the nay sayers but now I agree. This had the potential to be a huge game..Fantastic foundation for a game but this lack of content is causing it to sink. Rare has scuttled their ship and SOT is sinking. Rates reputation for a come back was on the line and they won't be easily trusted again.. thought this game could at least hold me over for Red Dead 2 but now I say fair winds to SOT. Loved you but you broke my heart!
OK ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
@logansdadtoo which post are you referring to? Honestly sharing my ideas and opinions with this community on these very forums has also been a fun use of my time.
yhea I agree that theres not enough but I still have a blast playing it. Me and my friends are used to playing arma 2 dayz, altis life and arma 2 wasteland. It's very similar. Upfront not a lot to do but still fun to play. Me and my friends like to goof around and just do what we want, and that game gives me the same feeling as dayz.
Have you seen how long some games are in development - take Rust for example and its still not complete your looking at what 10-12 years! oh and ARK, its the industry's way i'm afraid, and they continue to do this, why? because we as consumers are prepared to 1. pay for pre-orders without any guarantee that the product is complete and ready for release, 2. as consumers we want everything now and aren't prepared to wait, 3. Having spent £50 quid on the pre-order/order players are reluctant to give up on the game. 4. there is no way to get refund on the game if you don't like it (unlike steam) and finally even if you were to just boycott the game until later "on mass" the likely hood is that it would just get scrapped instead of invested in.
@dudeurscoped yeah i get ya well said and nether did i at first i was defending the game like it was my brother but now i just cant give it the same love i want to it sucks having to wait so long for a game i always dreamed about playing and now its just like i want to play it but there no reason to the grind is just a waste of time but each to there own. im probably gonna give it the benefit of the doubt anyway and give it a few months to stratin up but theres a lot of work that needs to be done.
@dantheman929
Referring to OP m8!
Don't see why we needed another post the same as all the other moaners!
If they are not happy with the product, get a refund & move on to something else.
Why come & moan & moan without substance, it's boring & repetitive, a bit like what all the moaners are actually complaining about!I'll put aside the terrible caps lock and give an honest response as I have in many, many other threads of this nature. People are accusing Rare of bait and switch, over pricing and a number of other mind numbing things.
The truth is Rare stated multiple times that the game at launch would not be the game in it's entirety. So what is it people want? They said there is much more content coming. People need to stop being impatient and do research before buying a game.
There are a million post wanting everything from no pvp to pve only servers, complaint after complaint about price you name it, they complain about it. Rare has not lied about one single thing that I can find. People decided in their on imaginations, what the game should be like when it launched, so if the game did not meet your expectations sadly its your own fault.
Everyone already agrees the game needs more, but here is the real kicker. Rare is going to give us more.
@zep-darkwater yeah ok the cash grab was a long shot obviously i don't no whats going on there cause im not apart of the development but my god it looks like one
@dropkickilla Not ok with all caps but whatever. What also needs to be said is that every request for some huge game changing alteration to the core mechanic also increases the time before we see the promised extra content.
@dropkickilla It's only been a week, and Rare is working on getting the game working properly for everyone.
@dropkickilla How many people buy games in development and watch the game grow? I think people know it hasn't got real content yet, which is the same for a lot of games now days. I've been following many games and when released still need a lot of work, so it's not like it's a new concept to release games without much content. Elder scrolls struggled at the beginning as do many new mmo's, I'm not defending or attacking the game, but the very people who do mouth off about new releases crying that they want something better, are the very same people that kill the games.
@DropKicKilla to be fair, I wasn't expecting more than sailing from this game, and at this point it's most of what I do. I play a couple hours in a single sloop as a warm up, do some solo Gold Hoarding, then join in a full crew Galleon and just mess around playing instruments and drinking.
Sorry you've expected more from this game, but there really wasn't much to go on with, you just made expectations for yourself which had no foundation. The game was always shown as "sailor simulator" and that's what we got.
@capt-gnashmaw thanks I stand corrected, I didn't know you could do this, it was not a lie, just ignorance on my part, don't get me wrong I'm loving the game, and was just pointing out some of the flaws in the industry and how we as consumers deal with it.
@dropkickilla I get it, I really do - the game lacks content, there certainly could be more "buttons to press" and that has been voiced many many times here and elsewhere - and is a concern that should be voiced. Rare has proved time and again that they listen to their community and shape their game accordingly.
Now having acknowledged that, and at the risk of someone screaming fanboy at me, I have had, and will continue to have, an absolute blast with this game. I've played solo and with full crews, experienced everything there is to immediately do, and yet here I am still enjoying the title and eager to get work out of the way so I can get back to it as soon as possible. Surly that must stand for something?
So while the voice of concern should (and I believe will) be heard, please keep in mind that there are also fans of this title who are just as passionate as you are, but are also very pleased with their experience so far.
It may just be me but the games I love the most seem to have this same complaint. The division sunk over 1000 hours of my life and had the same complaints about content. The core game rocks and has enough to keep me wanting to play.
That said it needs the map extending not just a lil bit but by multiples lol. The map is about 1/4 what I would expect as the minimum for a game that is basically 99% open water. They said 6 hours to sail around I can get from one side to the other is a few mins.
Also while the price may seem high your not having to pay for a season pass etc so this alone puts it at a lower price point then most aaa games.
Don't get me wrong I would love to see more content esp as its missing big quests due to a lack of story etc but even if they had been added how much replay value would that hold on a game like this? NPC sea battles would be really cool, raids on gold ship convoy would be amazing. Also using all caps does not make you point any more or less valid it just makes it look childish. Just saying.
@dropkickilla Well I mean its only a crash grab if you don't believe what Rare has told us. Everyone has the right to believe as they choose, but you either have to have faith and wait and see or just give up on it.

whats with people and caps like cmon its pretty immature to disregard an entire post just because of bigger letters read whats said and say ur through i don't care but when people start b******g about letters u can tell they got nothing else to say but unnecessary c**p
Can you please continue writing in caps so i can ignore ALL your posts please?
4 years with a design team that size isn't long enough and it shows. ubisoft took all most 8 years to create the first assassins creed the character alone i heard wasn't finished after 8 years. all these reviews that 4 years is a long time for developing a game are false, thy have no idea how to create a game, only to review a game. I'm not going to disagree with you the game needs more content and it needed it at launch, but to say you need a year to wait to have fun is a lie, I have fun when I play sot but it just dies quickly and then comes back again. Right now for me sea of thieves is just my casual go to game if i wanna sink ships find treasure and kill skeletons with my friends. Rare have not lied to us. Everything thy said that was going to be in the game is in the game......
@dropkickilla Ain't it funny how all of the "YouTube Reviews" are echoing the same things about the game? You would think at some point they would give their own true perspective. Not saying that some of what they are saying is wrong. Just that they aren't also pointing out the positives either.
But, looking at the game. It is a "sandbox" game. I'm a little upset that some of the things that were said to be in the game at launch didn't come to fruition. I knew what I paid for by playing the beta in early access. I am certain that a lot of people had the opportunity to do so also. They could have cancelled their pre-order but decided not to.
@dropkickilla I do agree with u on some points. A lot of the people I have come across say that they thought Rare were keeping “secrets for launch” like new weapons, tons more cosmetics, an expansion of the map, amd when we didnt get these, we were disappointed. Not to mention the datamine.( I wont say what was in it so I dont get in trouble) but lets just say it definitely got my hopes up as I figured at least some of those features would make it into launch. I just wanted to explain where the disappoimtment of players (including me) may have come from👍
@captn-crushem I 100% agree matey. I’ve been playing since before content to hate on. I have a great time playing :)

Have you ever used a forum before? Calm it on the caps, it makes you seem like a 10 year old throwing a fit, because you didn't get the toy you wanted. Get your refund if you even paid for the game at all, and arnt a game pass holder, and leave with your toxic tantrums.
OK bro whatever u reckon
I’m really enjoying it. I will agree that content is sparse but if a developer can make a game that lacks content, yet keeps me logging back on to play 5+ hrs. each day doing the same damn things, just because it’s fun, well then I say nicely done devs, you found the right audience in me and my buds. I’m liking the social aspect, the suspense, the bloodthirsty pvp, and the unexpected . . .
Sea of Thieves is a pleasant surprise@felid0r They didn't explained everything. They led people to believe that they were holding a fair amount of content back for release. Not saying the game isn't fun, but no matter how you cut it, the game is lacking content. OP is right about that
@dropkickilla IT IS A GOOD THING YOU TYPED THIS OUT IN ALL CAPS. PEOPLE WILL BE MORE APT TO READ YOUR OPINION AND AGREE. /S
@dantheman929 said in OK ENOUGH IS ENOUGH:
@dropkickilla that actually still remains true and is why I stand behind the decision to not include vertical progression. Any player at any skill level has the ability to play and experience the world same as anyone else. What I would like to see more of is more horizontal progression like maybe a player bounty systems for players who have gone a long time without a pvp encounter or a guild system where there can be competitive faction wars over loot acquired.
I don't think punishing PVE players for not PVPing is a good game feature...... End of the day Pirates rarely engaged each other.....the crews are on board for a pay day not to loose there lives so they went after easy targets which is why I think this game needs an npc enemy faction to attack and steal loot from.
I would agree that pirates who engage in PVP need some sort of penalty added to them tho as PVP in open world games always needs risk the PVE is at risk of having their loot stolen so the PVPer needs something too maybe they get shown on the map for a certain amount of time after engaging making them a tempting target for everyone.
