How to get Refund?

  • So After many hours trying to find something else to do apart digging chests and chasing chickens or skeletons I am wondering how to get a refund for what is a clearly an unfinished game and that apparently won't have any further update as there is no roadmap either ...

    Anyone knows how?

  • @n-a-ii-m-a If you've played for "Many hours" you likely won't get a refund.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a Search the title "Refund" in the search bar at the top. Someone was asking the same thing earlier and a mod posted it in the thread.

  • @bloodfrenzy187 Microsoft is currently offering full refunds, for even beta accounts, so yeah, you can get one.

  • @kashaarafall link to this from MS?

  • Well, i'm pretty sure you won't get one. That's not how the real world works. If you don't want to get burned, don't pre-order, or buy the game day 1. Wait a week for the reviews, but stop wining, not everything works out like you want it too.

  • @bloodfrenzy187 Was linked in the topic I spoke of. Just type "Refund" in the search bar and look for the post with like 127 responses. The Mod posted it in the thread and the guy who made the topic was a beta player+other players in the thread also got refunds.

click your heels three times and say 'there is no place like SEA OF THIEVES'.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a
Take it up with the retailer that sold you the game!
If it's digital version from MS Store then bear this in mind
'Games and apps are only eligible for a refund within 14 days of purchase, and only if you've played less than 2 hours across all accounts - you can't sink 40 hours into a game and then try and get your money back!'

  • @kashaarafall I've tried refunding way worse games and not gotten one. I have doubts they're handing out refunds like hot cakes.

  • @bloodfrenzy187 Doesn't matter if the game is worse or not to you, it's about how it is being received, which in that sense. It's pretty much being called No Man's Sea. Steam had to open up a new refund policy just for NMS and only for NMS and people used it, but it was quickly turned off due to the flux of people refunding the game.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a
I was going to get a refund last night but then I changed my mind!

  • Cool. try it then. I can almost guarantee they say no.

  • Google it or are you just attention seeking it baffles my head how people can think they can purchase a game play it for 20+hours and still ask for refunds. You purchased the game and it wasnt falsely advertised. Go look on microsoft store to see what the description is or let me quote it for you since you are to lazy to do anything yourself...

"Packed to the seams with sailing and exploring, fighting and plundering riddle solving and treasure hunting..." Need I say more? You didn't purchase this game under false pretenses if you don't like what it has to offer stop playing it but you knew what you was getting when you purchased it and this refund mentality is full on stupid af and microsoft are under no obligation to give you a refund.

  • To assist, this was the link that the mod put into the refund topic.

They put OP through a chat, the chat refunded the game. Enjoy if you can get it, if not, then well, sorry!

  • @hoochpit "Wait a week for the reviews, but stop wining, not everything works out like you want it too."

I know, right. If only there were some way for people to know how the game plays before having to buy it on day one... if only.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a does this really need to be in a forum? kinda seems like a stab at the game. Refunds are easily done. Just wondering.

  • Many hours = forget about a refund.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a I received a complete refund for the digital copy I purchased from Microsoft. It takes a few days to show up on cc but I received email confirmation after speaking to live support.

You know this attitude I tell ya.... let's hear you say that when you buy a brand new car and it breaks down day 1 or a TV and it fails in a week... or if you order food and it's horrible or even has gone bad. Or buy shoes and they are uncomfortable or buy a pair of pants and don't quite like how it fits... hell buy ANYTHING outside of video games you can pretty much return or exchange anything other than games. Games aren't cheap the industry needs to change. Because If I knew you and worked in a retail store and you tried to return anything I would most definitely say sorry things dont always work out as you expect.

I hate this attitude video games is a retail business same as any other you are buying a product and if you are not happy there should be a return policy. Only in this industry is it damn near impossible to get a return or even a store credit as an exchange. Its starting to change but it's not quite there yet.

Now I get denying a return after someone played a ton of hours. But even still I played maybe 30 mins of monster hunter and was denied a return from Microsoft. That game was not for me.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a

In the real world it's called a second hand sale. but this definitely isn't the real world you're talking about. You're not trying out computer parts here. People should not be able to change their minds more than a week after release, it's ridiculous.

  • @sloan7734 Why you still posting on the forums?

There should at least be a written policy on 1 week or so many hours very similar to steam. But ya I get ya.

  • Can I get a refund for my 14 day game pass trial??

    🤔🤔🤔

Why not? According to this forum we haven't even scratched the surface for what the game has to offer. Sounds to me like he should get a refund due to not experiencing the "whole game".

  • I shall provide a full refund for you.

  • Not true about a refund at all. I was 29/29/27 in game so many hours sunk into the game.
Want a refund? CALL microsoft store directly in your country zone( USA, CANADA, AUS, ect) with your order number (digital download) and all of your info, as in email, payment method, ect.
The people that I spoke to at Microsoft / Xbox store are WELL aware of the issues and complaints - in fact the rep actually took the time to skim the forums here and the official news reports from SoT.

Long story short, 3-5 business days and I have my money back. I honestly wish it hadn't come to this but my decisions alone are based on horrid pings ranging from 75-1100 at times, seeing everyone else in their pre ordered gear but not having access to it myself, the various 'beards' messages, and finally the inability to even play at times due to the servers being locked out.

So yes, it is possible to get a refund. I hope this info helps someone else thinking on a refund. Another way is to just call your financial institution and do a refund that way as well. Most people pay with credit card, and due to Microsoft using these companies as a payment window, they MUST follow the rules of that card company, which varies in different countries, but in NA, they must complete a refund within 3-5 business days, or be frowned upon by the said CC company for non compliance.

Good luck to those sticking this game out. It has serious potential, but not at this time for me.

  • Unwanted refund Nemůžu spustit hru, která mi píše, že jsem požádala o vrácení peněz, ale to není pravda, co mám dělat?

  • you could have used game pass to try out the game before buying, or watch beta footage, or wait a little bit see how the game is then buy it. Comparing a video game to a broken tv (in terms of refunds) is not fair to say, the game is not broke it plays just as advertised. Also i will say video games are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment so i don't see the problem with how refunds work for the most part.

  • @rdizz yeah, nice try with extremely short sighted argument. Cars have warranties, go ahead and try to return it for your money back when nothing is wrong, HAH, not happening. And the other things you mention just don't hold up. Food caused you to get sick??? Yup, that is EXACTLY like buying something sight unseen, nice comparison. TV's, again, manufacturers warranty. Just as an added education piece for you, those warranties are paid for within the price of the product, unlike video games. So yeah, they could hike the price, just to compensate for those that just can't wait for it to come out before deciding to buy it.

Hate to break this to you but you can return all of these items generally within 30 days. If you say other wise you're not fooling anyone. Or you're too young to know. It actually shocks me that this is your response. Hell you can even return unopened milk to a grocery store on the same day... lol please man

Infact aside from software I'm not sure of any retail product I can't return with a 30 day money back guarantee. At least how it is here in the states.....

    Yes cars included.

Just to add to this I can return these items most of the time with no questions asked within 30 days. Unless I broke it.

  • Call Microsoft. They are very good at giving refund.
I got one once when TMCC had a terrible launch.

  • @n-a-ii-m-a

Ahoy there, you should read this page for the procedure for getting a refund from Microsoft or the terms and conditions of the store from which you purchased -

  • @rdizz Actually, i'm not really young, and the car thing you speak of is called a "lemon law", which you have to qualify for. As for milk, you sir are funny. Now you throw in 'unopened', when that was no where in your first post. I'm not sure where you are from, but there is no place that I can go to return 'food' that I just don't like or don't want. That stemmed from the 80's with the Tylenol poisoning scare in California, where someone tampered with the bottles and people died. Most stores will not accept unopened perishables to be returned, only opened ones that are not of satisfactory standard. That in and of itself tells you you cannot just return something without a reason. Some stores like Whole Foods allows anything, with a receipt, but then again, you pay 5 bucks for milk there, so yeah, i guess they can cover it, kinda like the manufacturers warranty i spoke of. Where the hell are you getting this information from???
