@hudson-rl Can't deny that. Playing does infact make you better/more experienced at the game, but that can be said about any game. Some progression would of made a big difference and it doesn't have to be in the means of unlocking cosmetics through money or tedious tasks. It could of easily been tied to achievements or something. Sail 100 miles, special coat. Take down an enemy vessel, special this, take down the kraken, special this etc. Give people something to work for and you will get a much better response.
Not only it can be said about any game, but it is more or less true from a game to another, depending on the depth of the gameplay. For instance, it's especially true in a Moba, where the learning curve is huge, to be good, you have to learn every skill of every hero. At the contrary, the learning curve of SoT is very short, you just have to learn to work the sails, learn the cannon shot curvature, a few tricks with the cutlass and how to properly use a powderkeg, and it's done, there's really not so much to learn.
So, i don't think the "real progression is you getting good at the game" is much of an argument here.
