Higher level voyages any different?

  • Hey guys I wanted to ask if higher level voyages (35-50) are any different? for example order of souls, is it a lot harder, or just the same but multiple maps? What about the gold hoarders? Money rewards?
Is it worth to grind all the way there?
And if someone is legend already let me know how these voyages are.

  • From what I've seen, and heard from guys that are in the higher tiers is....

    no

The voyages are exactly the same, the maps are the same, the rewards are the same.

All that changes is that you'll get a chance to get more maps from GH, you'll get more bounties and more special types of skellingtons from OoS, and you'll get requests for rarer animals, powder kegs and crates more frequently from MA.

But the actual rewards are RNG, and the mechanics of the quests are exactly the same!

    Cool huh?

  • To me it seems you get more gold for everything you trade in the higher your level at this merchant is. I dont know exactly how this applies to groups (the highest one, the average of your crew or the level of that person that sold it)

  • @mcdoll I actually stopped getting more maps. Even got a voyage with single island with a single chest.
    So it's not completely true...

  • @dustofthedeath no siree, you don't get more per item.
A captains chest is always worth somewhere between 600-1200 or whatever, and it gives you a random value no matter your level.
Unlocking better rewarding, harder and more complex voyages was yet more hyperbole from the peter molyneuxes at rare.

  • @lucky-monkee oh yeah, meant to say that it gives the potential for that.
But not necessarily given that it's all RNG

  • @lucky-monkee said in Higher level voyages any different?:

Yep level 30 is rubbish you get hardly any treasure maps and when you do it has one x mark.

  • They definitely needs to add some more stuff like missions and stuff soon

  • @joda1123

I find the chance for getting a riddle quests are higher. So for me it basically turns out to take longer for the same loot.

Really bad Game Design balancing from Rare. There should be a higher risk / higher reward progress.

  • Higher level voyages need give you more requirements to complete them, and give you a higher chance of getting rare chests. For example, I'm level 22 Gold Hoarder, and unearthed a captains chest, and 2 marauders chests between a riddle and two treasure maps it gave me. Took about an hour because they were spread out 4-5 islands apart each, and ran into a ship battle.

  • @joda1123 They just take longer, for the same reward. So in a way, that's different :).

  • @lucky-monkee and that single chest was a legendary? or is it random?

  • Just noticed myself it is completely random, I have had better loot from the initiation voyages then the 20+ gold hauler maps.

  • I regret upgrading my voyages...
They are different, but they are only more difficult (Skelis are stronger), take longer time (Islands are more apart), but have the same rewards.

Did a lvl 25 voyage the other day, got like 8 chests, 3 of them Captains.
On my 1st lvl 30 Goldhoarder voyage, I had to sail to Devils Ridge, Marauders Arch and Smugglers Bay, literally all across the map...
It took me a long time sailing, for 1 castaway and 2 seafarers...

Is there any reward for upgrading the voyages?

I kinda hope there is a system so the chances for good chests/maps are higher on higher voyages, and i just had bad luck... but i doubt it. Seems like complete RNG to me, so just don't upgrade if u want to make a lot of gold.

  • @joda1123 if I had to guess its random, less chest does not seem to get more captain chests... or so it seems
