As the title says, I think I found a strong contender for the legend hideout location! I took a few screenshots to show you what I mean.
As has been going around, in some preview or another the legend hideout got associated with an island with a seaside waterfall. I found this on Devil's Ridge:
That torch is next to the entrance to a tunnel, which I was able to enter by climbing to the top of the waterfall and then hopping down the rocks. From the inside of the tunnel entrance, it looks like this:
That may not be the sail-behind-a-waterfall we were expecting, but there is a nice big cove for people to park in. Plus, there's a cannon at the top of the waterfall people could use to shoot intruders. What really got me excited, though, was what I found when I went deeper in the tunnel. At the entrance to a cavern, I discovered this wall painting:
That looks remarkably like a champion pirate being cheered by crowds, does it not? And that sounds a lot like it's talking about pirate legends, does it not? Mhm. I thought so. The cavern beyond this cave was also really intriguing:
There's this little lip next to a small pool, which is where I'm standing. And beyond that lip, there's that small waterfall which does have another tunnel behind it. Upon exploration, said tunnel looped back around to the earlier bits of this tunnel system, but that doesn't mean the hideout isn't in here. It would open only to legends, which I am not, but I did find a few potential walls that looked like they could reasonably contain secret doors. There's more, though. In that cave, there are 3 things of note. On the left, there's this skeleton in a cage:
I suppose this could relate to the Gold Hoarders, though it isn't as definite as the other two:
There's this boar painting just to the right of the waterfall, which is clearly Merchant Alliance related
And then ther's this shrine on the right wall which has a skull at the top that's veeerrrryyy reminiscent of the Order of Souls symbol. Taken together, this could all represent mastery of the 3 factions- the Order of Souls one certainly looks mastery-ful enough, just look at those paintings on the side that seem to be cheering/worshipping the shrine and all those radiance lines coming off the skull. Furthermore, Devil's Ridge seems to have several more caves in it, so that fits the preexisting cave theory. I didn't have a chance to explore those, though, but I plan to go back soon and have a look. My theory is that the entrance is in that small tunnel behind the waterfall in the cavern, but it only slides open for legends. Anyhow, the layout all seems to fit, and so I thought I'd share it with you guys! Also, the music in the tunnels seems a bit different from the rest, but that could just be me. Anyone wanna double-check that?
Welp, there you have it! All told, I feel like Devil's Ridge is a promising candidate for the hideout location. What do you guys think?
