Can Someone Please Explain Upgraded Ranks

  • I am dumbfounded by the Reputation Rank system, and whatever purpose it serves. I'm Reputation Level 30 with the Gold Hoarders, and just completed a Voyage with 1 Map with 1 Dig Spot that gave me a Seafarer Chest? This far along and the Chest might not even cover the cost of the Voyage? I don't understand how Voyages can even remotely compete with Skeleton Forts as they stand.

So, what exactly does having a higher level with the Factions actually do? Is it purely to give longer voyages? Does it increase the value of items found on the Voyages? Is it just a way to unlock a few titles?

  • I t**t the value of the item you get on the quest scales with the rep. For example i didn't a rank 20 mechant quest for 3 gold pigs and a snake, and each pig was worth a little over 1300. I don't remember pigs being worth that much at the start.

We always go for skeleton forts whenever possible but there isn't always a skeleton fort, or at least we don't always see one where we are. So you got voyages to do in the meantime.

  • Higher rep means unlocking cometic items and the ability to upgrade voyages. When buying voyages, you can choose to upgrade them for a better rng loot pool. Unfortunately with gold hoarders and order of souls, you don't get to see what you're setting out to loot until you actually loot it. Unlike merchant voyages where it tells you on the spot what you're setting out for.

All that being said, just because your loot pool is better, doesn't mean you won't get the occasional c**p chest or skull or animal list.

I heard from one of the other posts that the gold hoarder voyage upgrade 5 (level 25 rep) is speculated to be a sweet spot for rng tables? No datamining, just player experiences and rumors.

  • @bcg-red-moose each animal is worth something different. A pink bristled pig is worth a lot less than a gold striped pig.
