Just started playing today and I was wondering what happens to your items such as inventory, ship, and gold when you die i. game? I’m currently trying to understand what you lose and what you keep.

Quick question about dying?
@uttinidkilrjawa nothing happens. if your ship sinks, the items in the barrels reset to default values. only real thing you could lose is any chest you dug up if someone steals them
@hiyall1 On death yesterday, I lost all my gold which I had gained from selling chests (my purse appeared to be reset to zero), and my initial trade mission was also reset. So, no, the only real thing you could lose is not just any chest. Unless, of course, there's a bug at play here. :-)

That is indeed a bug!
As said above, you're only suppose to lose non-banked items (which you may be able to recover depending on circumstances) and barrel items beyond the base stock that comes with a new ship.
Everything else (banked or in inventory) is to remain.
The economy server is a bit of a mess at the moment, but try logging in and out. That seems to help get your money and rep sorted. It'll normalize as they get past initial launch. :)

Agreed, that is definitely a bug. That really sucks, hopefully your gold comes back!
@ZenZuki To be honest, I did think it was a bug at play here, but thanks for the confirmation. At the moment I am not really bothered about losing the gold as I am just starting the game, and so just exploring whilst I get to grips with it (and having jolly good fun at the same time), so any gold I am getting now is purely incidental.
I think there's a very bright light which you slowly drift towards with every moment of your life rotating around you. if you have lived a carefree life with no thought to others then the events swirling around your head are very angry and loud. If, on the other hand, you have been good to yourself and fellow humans, then you get soothing music whilst t*****s angels compete in a series of quests for your attention.
