Preordered game will not download from microsoft store

I had the same, I couldn't even download the 1.5mb placeholder file. I tried everything over the space of a week. Registry edits, store resets, I lost a few evenings to it.
In the end I reinstalled win 10 (but kept files) and that sorted it.
I have to agree with OP on the windows store.

@spunkus-skunkus i did do a support ticket. They do not get back to you or hang up on you when you call and wait on hold for hours. The microsoft team are ignorant and do not know what they are doing. Their techs are not knowledgeable on any topic. I know more about computers than their paid techs. This game is a disaster already and it is due 100 percent to the failings of the microsoft store. We play pc to get away from the failings if console. Was stupid to grp PC with Xbox. Should have kept them completely separate. People on PC don't want to play with console for this exact reason .

@geordiep7 yep. This game will fail. Already a disaster and people can't even download game. I'm getting my refund and spending my money elsewhere. I suggest all PC players to do the same.

@gulpee-rex so I wouldnt have to wait for the download. Glad I did because looks like I paid 60 bucks for a game that I can't even download. You are able to pre download the game. Glad I found out they are screwing over pc players early. Now I can at least get my refund.

@ant-heuser-kush consoles are rip offs that sand bag their technology to get you [Mod edited] to buy consoles over and over and over again. Keep PC separate always. PC is why this game will be doing good and Microsoft already screws the PC over? Forget microsoft. They are trash.

My friends got to download it before it is released (19.6Gb) and so I was wondering if it was a glitch as it opens up the possibility to Data-miners. Any idea?

@ant-heuser-kush also. Microsofy tech support just hangs up on you when they realize they don't have the answer. Worthless tech help. They pay these techs? Lol. My nephew could give better tech support and he's 14

If you have some issues downloading from MS Store, check that :

• Windows Update Service is running
• BITS service is running
• You have enough Hard Drive space to dl the game

If you getting stuck on the preload try this:
open you internet browser
Google for Sea of Thieves
open up the Xbox site where you can pre-order it
click on preorder ( MS store site should appear)
click on play
game should start to download in your MS store.

Finally got a tech to trouble shoot remotely. I have tried all of the suggestions prior to even posting this

@bigdaddycincy yes you can pre download it. You must play console. If you are a console player....you know nothing about computers and please don't respond. Thanks.
