Need help!, purchase related!

    Hello,

    So I recently was asking around about whether I can purchase Sea of Thieves where I live (Malaysia) and I keep getting vague responses and I really just want a straight answer, I already talked to SoT Support and Microsoft Support and I still don't know if i'll be able to buy it, the last thing they said was like oh look at this vague list of "regions" that the game will come out in, does that mean country+surrounding areas or does regions in this case mean only that country ? i'm so confused and angry, I don't wanna wait for a second release, I just simply wanna buy the game on launch..

    Oh and not to forget to mention, before they sent me the list above, one of the SoT Support staff told me to just try and purchase from another region despite everyone else saying it will not work including Microsoft Support, SO WHAT'S GOING ON ?

    @worthygazelle99 I guess if you can't buy it through the store than indeed you can't... But I don't who can help you further if not Rare's support or devs

    I feel like this might hurt the game by not releasing everywhere at once ? can't they just release it on steam, at least they know how to release games everywhere.. :/

    This may sound crazy but, what if you went with your xbox to region that sells the game. It could get pricy.

    @too-much-space I'm buying it on PC and the prices are exactly the same in all regions.. it's just direct conversion..

    @worthygazelle99 i meant the travel part, also not the same price all regions. Us 59$ canada 79$ and parts of europe are reporting diffrent prices. And im assuming if youd have a IP adresse from a area selling the game you could probably get but not sure how that all works once your playing it and such how that would work

    @too-much-space I checked the prices of previously released microsoft games in USD and when they came out in Malaysia and found out that it's a direct conversion, usually on steam or other gaming stores Malaysian prices are a lot lower but in this case it's the same as USD, and about the game thing, one of the support staff told me to try and buy from another region so now i'm confused as to whether it'll work or not..

    Use a VPN like tunnelbear to look like you are in any reagion you want and use the windows store to download right?

    @lord-sphinktus Well it might work but will it work without VPN after i download it ? you don't really need a VPN btw, just go to the windows store in your browser and it'll auto-detect the USD currency for some reason..

    @lord-sphinktus Nope definitely can't buy it from another store, It asks for debit-card details and you need to add a US address ..

    @lord-sphinktus Seriously this is the worst kind of game release for me .. I have never even thought about pre-ordering a game cause i don't like to pre-order but this game.. it's the only game I thought about pre-ordering and when i look it up, it's not even available in my store and it gets worst, it's not even included for release in my country in the actual release date.. what the heck..

    You can buy it from another region MS Store, you just need to buy Xbox Credit in that countries currency & use that as the payment method. (this needs to be from a 3rd party seller, as MS wont let you buy foreign xbox credit off the MS Store either)
    Check this site it tells you how much SOT is in different regions (there is also a link at the top of that page that links to websites that sell foreign xbox credit. (xbox live cards)

    Yes, but you have to buy the digital version which is for xbox & pc, doesn't matter that you don't have an xbox!

    I just got a reply saying that If i somehow managed to buy the game from another region, it will definitely work but i'm not sure how to do that using Ms Store, I'll try paypal i guess..

    I just told you how to do it!! You need to buy xbox store credit (which you use on MS Store to buy the game!)
    Paypal won't work due to the address!

    @logansdadtoo Are you sure there is no Xbox only version ?, because Xbox offers that xbox play or whatever the service name is and the game is free but i read that it's for xbox only and in that case i thought it gives you an xbox only version of the game which means it does exist :/, or idk i'm not sure.

    The xbox only version is the physical disc version!
    The digital version is play anywhere, so is for xbox & pc ;)

    Yes, that is correct.
    Just bear in mind that you can't buy the US Store credit on the MS Store, you will need to use one of the retailers in the link posted earlier in this thread!

    Try the links in HERE
    You need to purchase enough store credit in the correct currency, then go back to the MS Store in whatever region you choose & purchase the game using the store credit vouchers as the payment method ;)
