Speculation: the (Juju) Jungle Skeleton

  • The new Launch trailer portrayed a new skeleton!

    Plant Skeleton

Alongside the Golden Skeleton, and the Shadow Skeleton, this is likely the third skeleton they hinted at during the livestream yesterday. Or, perhaps I'm just imagining things. But, I am curious as to what this skeleton means. Perhaps it sneaks up on you if you're running through plants, and is very resistant against a cutlass because of it's plant like properties? This would certainly change the priorities of what weapons to carry into battle.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. What are yours?
What do you think of mine?

  • @erinom3
since the shadow and gold skelis have a weakness (light/water), i wonder if this one has any counter tactics as well.
    What could it be? :)

  • @quadratfuss bullets

  • Maybe the plant skeleton is stronger and regenerates when exposed to the sun.

  • @erinom3 Just let me carry a torch please.

  • Looks quite interesting

  • @quadratfuss vomit

  • @quadratfuss Some swear that plants love music.

  • @joda1123 That would be an amazing mechanic. You have to vomit on plant skelies to beat them. L**O!

  • @joda1123 Speaking of which, has anyone tried vomiting all over the hordes of skelies in skull forts? Do they get blinded?

  • As i've mentioned in another thread. I think we're going to get a few options to ignite or set certain entities on fire.

My thought is that this specific skeleton is weak against fire.

Someone mentioned the "Boom Booms!". But i think we're getting a tool, just like the lantern and compass etc.

So if what i'm speculating here is true, we got these skeletons and their weaknesses as of now.

    • Castaway Skeleton - No specific weakness, other than being a mindless creature with low health.
    • Shadow Skeleton - Weak against light. Use your lantern to combat the shadowy barrier of the skeleton, exposing it to damage.
    • Golden Skeleton - Weak against water. Slow heavy-moving skeleton. Use your bucket to throw water upon the creature. This will make the skeleton temporarily rust, reducing movement speed while exposing it to damage
    • (Ju-ju) Jungle Skeleton - Weak against fire & cutlass slices. Fast moving skeleton. Can immobilize a player with its roots and many vines. Cut these or shoot the skeleton to free the rooted player. (Speculation)
  • Maybe they'll be ambushers? I think that fella leaping out of the undergrowth at you will be a surprise!

    Gold skellies don't like water...
    Shadow skellies don't like light...
Plant skellies might be repelled by you waving your shovel at them? 'C'm'ere, I'm gonna make compost outta ya!' ;P

  • I think it would be resistant to the guns and can only be cut down with the cutlass

  • @erinom3 My best bet is that it will send roots out of the ground that will grab your ankles and hold you in place; if you're a sharpshooter, you can aim for the skeleton itself to make it release you, but if you're not a great shot then you can just hack away at the vines with your sword until it lets go.

Or it could just be good at hiding :P Either way it's a great addition to the game.

  • After rewatching the trailer, i saw it had roots.
I totally agree with you guys, that it may very well have a paralyzing ability (Left hand is roots) which would be cool to see in action.

And the cutlass vs vines idea as a weakness makes sense too!

    Yep, my thoughts exactly!
His neck/head gear is purposefully made to resemble some of the plants in the SOT world, so he'll be sitting, waiting to pounce.
I can't wait to see the jump scares on some of the streams, lol :)

  • Jungle skellie is vunerable to shovel attacks! :)

Remember that the other two have weaknesses to things we carry.

    We carry shovels!

Cats and dogs with full bladders.

  • @emanuel-wynnn
    The Juju skeleton ;)

  • Hedge Trimmers? Lawn mower? ;D

That would make a lot of sense.

  • @erinom3

    100% agree on this.

    Fixed it.

  • If metal skeletons rust from water...
...Do plant skeletons melt from vomit?

After getting sick on a skeleton you have to then drunkenly fight it.

  • I wonder if the Golden skeleton was originally made of iron but was changed for some reason. Because iron + water = rust, but gold + water = nothing.
I would bet that there will be an iron version and the golden one will be the skeleton of skeletons, with no weaknesses. Because you know, gold is the perfect metal and all that. :D

  • My thoughts on the plant skele is we will be taking him down with some Fireball rum!

  • @d-muhny Oh yes instead of puking you breath fire.

  • @erinom3 They defiantly look interesting. I wonder if music might help? Charm them or reveal their locations?

(I couldn't resist creating this skele gif from some of my Beta videos :))

  • @stacky-a Did the skeletons follow the music.
I want to be a pied piper of death.

  • @ant-heuser-kush
I feel like this skelly and the shadow skelly are going to cause some great scary moments haha

  • @badeyedbill No, haha I stood on a rock like a coward and they just stood there. This was from the first Beta so they are a lot smarter now- in the final beta they get bored and kinda walk off after a while.
I got lucky with their animations too, synchronized at the same time to look like they were dancing.

  • @stacky-a I guess that would be too easy. Dang...
...maybe with a full band? at least get the skeletons to dance.

  • @badeyedbill Haha, yeh would be pretty funny.

  • special attack photosyntesis xdddddd

  • Seems to me that jungle skeletons will be weaker at night and best killed using a cutlass. I think it is actually possible to create darkness during the daytime by entering caves.
