Xbox Game Pass & Windows 10?

  • So I've already purchased myself the game because I know i'm going to get many hours of enjoyment out of it but my wife is not so certain she will be able to play it enough to make it worth the price.

She suffers with motion sickness and this game believe it or not makes her feel sick to the stomach when playing for to long she can't sail the boat and she has to hold onto the sails hoist to stop the screen from shaking. Funny I know.

Anyway, Does the Xbox Game pass work on windows 10 PC? So could I purchase the monthly sub and have Sea of thieves work that way or is this Xbox exclusive? We don't own an Xbox. So If I purchased the Xbox game pass I'd still be downloading the game on Windows 10 for her to play.

Good question if i use gamepass it s possible to play on my PC ?? for me its only 69€ for a PC game it's expensive and i dont know if in the beta it's not already the game at 80% ... lol

  • @ragga95 yeah, exactly I already spent the money for a full copy for myself but I'm not going to do it for my wife to only play a few hours a month its not worth it. But I will pay the 6-8dollars a month each month she fancies playing.

  • Can I use Xbox Game Pass on my Windows 10 PC?

Xbox Game Pass can only be used on Xbox One consoles.

  • @kustho Ahoy there!

You can use Games Pass for access to the cross-platform games though. So it would enable you to get Sea of Thieves and Tomb Raider on your Windows 10 PC.

The wording of that page is now wrong. You CAN use games pass to get access to cross platform titles.

  • Well...not sure Sir...have a look into the faq?

I know I preordered twice, once for me and once for my wife...but she loves that game.

  • @musicmee So I can then? I can purchase the monthly fee for my wife? That's awesome, Thank you.

I looked into it but yeah like the previous person said the information is slightly incorrect.

  • @roosterhome Sure, yes you can just redeem it on the web on her Gamertag, log in to the store with that Gamertag and boom, all your subscription games will be free to you.

The article is worded that way because you cant download Xbox games on your PC that aren't cross platform.

  • perfect !! Ok all games "xbox play anywhere" run in PC and xbox whit the gamepass

  • @roosterhome @Kustho

Why buy two copies per family, if one copy is enough to play together on two computers?

  • @ragga95 Kinda....

All games that are on the Games Pass system that support Play Anywhere can be downloaded on either platform.

It's nearly what you said but not... just because a game is Play Anywhere it may not be on the Games Pass list... it's worth checking.

  • @baylion a dit dans Xbox Game Pass & Windows 10? :

    @roosterhome @Kustho

You can not play at the same time ?? no

  • @ragga95 With Xbox Game Share you kinda can... its a little complicated but we believe it is doable.

All you need to remember is... you don't have to be signed in with the account that bought it on the Xbox to be able to play just as long as the "Home" user downloaded it and is the main user.

Huh? and we can play together?

  • @ragga95 We can. We play like that in GW4. In the horde.
The first launch of the game must be for an account that has a game. Then the computer understands that the license is purchased and gives the right to play the rest of the accounts. Just like on the console.

  • P.S. By the way, that's why I like Xbox store more than his competitors. "Game for the family"

  • For what I've been told the physical version of the game for XBOX won't allow you to play the game on PC.That's why you gotta get the digital one, also I heard theres gonna be a physical copy of the game for PC.

  • @pinthehuman Close... You will be able to purchase a physical version of the game for Xbox only and this will only be playable on Xbox and will not be play anywhere.

  • Wow. and I already forgot that there are games on a physical medium. I was talking about the electronic version of the Xbox store.

  • @baylion this actually works? Can anyone confirm this too?

  • @pinthehuman correct, they don't want you to pass the disc around to 10+friends

  • @roosterhome if you buy the games on your PC they automatically get downloaded on your Xbox and then you can share that game with 1 other Xbox under a different account name by going into settings and checking yes to "my home xbox" while logging into their console. For PC this only works with Xbox play Anywhere games but between Xboxes this works with every digital game

  • Hi everybody! Although this thread is a few months old now, I wanted to clear up what seems to be a lot of confusion here.

As long as you are signed into the same account on both [Windows 10 and Xbox], and said account has an active GamePass membership, you will have access to Sea of Thieves on both platforms simultaneously. I also believe your "save game data" carries over as well. However, this IS NOT a substitute for buying multiple copies of the game for family members/households, as the game is ONLY accessible to the account which holds the GamePass subscription (NOT THE DEVICE), and only one person can be on that account at a time (you can't be playing the game on Xbox and Windows on the same account at the same time). If you're looking to play co-op with a family member/friend, you'll still need 2 copies of the game (or 2 GamePass subscriptions) (one for each account).

    I hope this helps!

I dont think this is true at all.
I have game pass and I can play it on my PC and Xbox on the same Game Pass.
With Xbox you attach your gamertag to a primary xbox device, for example mine is attached to the living room Xbox. Any digital game I buy can be used by any gamertag logged on to my primary device, so any family member can play Sea of Thieves on their own xbox gamertag complete with their own saved game.
As long as they are playing on their own account and my account is LOGGED OFF the Xbox, I can play on the PC at the same time.

Im sure this is true if you buy the digital PlayAnywhere version of the game too.

Hi everybody! Although this thread is a few months old now, I wanted to clear up what seems to be a lot of confusion here.

So you necro a thread only to supply it with wrong information?

There's several things at play here:

    • Xbox Family Sharing:

Game licences (including gamepass games) and Xbox Live are shared on the home Xbox One. Meaning that other accounts can play games and use Xbox Live without them actually having to pay for it.

    • Play Anywhere:

This is basically that you buy a licence for a game for both PC and Xbox. Meaning you can play the game on either platform and your savegames get synchronised. You cannot play the game on both platforms on the same account.

Now here comes the part where you were wrong:
The combination of Family Sharing and Play Anywhere ensures that once you own a game, you can play it on PC under your license and a family member can play the same game on their account using your Xbox One licence (and Xbox Live if needed). So if you're looking to play co-op with a family member on Xbox and PC, you'd only need one licence.

    Source:
This worked for my gf and me for all Game Pass / Play Anywhere co-op titles with the combination of my PC and Xbox One.

  • I was confused too and this thread has 12,000 views. The thing is that if you want your boyfriend, girlfriend or whoever :) the person on the "Home" Xbox doesn't need their own license, right?

So, just to be clear, the "Home" console allows other people with their own accounts to play your games while you can play the same games at the same time on another Xbox or PC (assuming it is a Play Anywhere title).

My understanding is that your Home Xbox (selected as such in Settings) allows other people with their own accounts to play your games so you can play the same games at the same time on another Xbox or PC (assuming it is a Play Anywhere title) using your account.

Basically, people playing for free would use your "Home" console and you would use your account to play on any Xbox or PC.

It looks like only two people could do this at the same time: the owner of the game on another Xbox or PC using his license and account and one random person using the owner of the game's Home console.

Not true, my friend is playing on Windows 10, he does not own an xbox. But he has gamepass.

It looks like only two people could do this at the same time: the owner of the game on another Xbox or PC using his license and account and one random person using the owner of the game's Home console.

With Windows 10's family sharing, It's actually possible to have 10 people playing on a single Xbox Play anywhere license. Windows 10 allows content to be install on up to 10 devices (including Xboxes as those are Windows 10 devices). The limit is 10 Windows 10 devices of which up to 2 of them Xbox Ones since the Xbox family sharing is more restrictive.

So 10 people can play on 10 PCs, or 9 PCs and 1 Xbox, or 8 PCs and 2 Xboxes.

    Here's how you do it:

Home Xbox 1: Can be played by any other account on this console.

Non-home Xbox 2: The license owner can play here.

Windows 10 PCs (up to the 10 machine limit): If the license owner is in a Microsoft Family with another user and both accounts are on the same device... The license owner can install their store content into the profile of their family member who then plays using their own profile/achivements/gamer tag/save files etc.
