The price of the game is ridiculous in Russia

  • First of all, I would like to say the game is amazing. A pure gem of game dev. I played the beta test with my friend and we had a great fun. But four thousand rubles, seriously? As far as I can judge, not so many people nowadays could afford to spend 4k on a game in a time of crisis in Russia, could you at least make a region restriction of the game and lower its price?

Please accept my sincere appreciation for the job you did.
    Your fan from Russia.

  • I guess the exchange rate is pretty bad. Four thousand rubles sounds like a lot. Help me out for comparison purposes... how much is a loaf of bread in rubles?

  • @cupohemlock It varies from 30-50 rubles in various regions of Russia.

  • @cupohemlock It costs 35 rubles

  • Hmm ok. A loaf of bread in the US is about $2.50, so I can get 24 loaves for the cost of the game. If the average cost of bread in Russia is 35 rubles, then I can get 114 loaves for the cost of the game there. Yep, that is bad.

I wonder if there is a VAT or some other excise that is being levied on the game in Russia? In any case, I am sorry it is so much there and hope a remedy can be found.

  • How many bottles of vodka is that equivalent to?

  • it costs $100 here in Australia %10 if that is a tax so even at $90 its still just a biiiit expensive for the game that it is. Yes we have a s****y dollar at the moment but even after conversion rates + taxes it's still about twenty-odd dollars overpriced. This will most likely be the first and last game I buy from Microsoft. I still feel sorry for Rare having to work for them. :(

  • @creativestatue6 In Spain the price of the game is 70€. 4880 Rubles :(
With 70€ i can buy 161 loaf of bread.

  • The game will be available on the xbox game pass. Who knows, maybe you'll get bored after playing it for a month? Or even two months would only cost a fraction of the total game price. That's what me and my friends are going to do. Get a game pass when the game launches.

  • Guys you should all keep in mind that the amount of salaries varies in our countries. You could afford a lot more in Australia then in Russia even if the price is cheaper.

  • I just googled: 4,000 Russian Ruble equals
    50.96 British Pound

Same as Ill be paying, but still expensive non-the-less

  • @krusedullen
In this game you can not play enough for a month :(

  • @seraph600 Can confirm that us spaniards and other southern european countries are also getting the short end of the stick with this.

That said, it is difficult to avoid such things from happening if they don't want to implement a region lock.

  • @uvg-reign Not in the capital residents of Russia earn no more than 15000RUB = 260 $, but still a mortgage, a loan, taxes and so on.

  • Here in Switzerland it is 70 CHF, in the US it is 59.95 USD if I am right... that's mean I would have paid (because I cancel my preorder) the equivalent of 73.60 USD while an american person would pay 18.5% less than me... I agree, it is not fair... 70 CHF or 4000 RUB is too much... especially for a game whose gameplay is similar to a F2P game (bashing and farming, that's all...)

  • @kgbeaster said in The price of the game is ridiculous in Russia:

Over what period of time? is that per week/month/god-I-hope-not-year

  • @uvg-reign It is not a problem, the price should be the same at a few % everywhere in the world. I earn the equivalent of a little bit more than 90'000 USD (per year) here in Switzerland but the game should be 60 CHF here not 70 CHF to be similare to the US. It is not fair at all!

  • @uvg-reign month

  • @creativestatue6 Isnt that the equivalent of 60 € or rougly 70 $ so the price is right ? or am I wrong.

  • @mcy0 In the US it is 59.95 USD, I don't know in Euro... but in CHF (Swiss currency), it is 70 CHF... and 1 USD is about 0.95 CHF... that is the problem.

  • @mcy0 It is not about the conversion course, it is about the buying power. In Russia, we could not afford to buy the 4 thousand rubles video game, simply because we would not have money to buy the essential products.

  • I'm from Poland and I realized I probably won't even be able to buy this game. The cost is 72 breads if we're still counting this way. Not the worst case in this thread, but still s****y. Tbh, Microsoft isn't known for good pricing. Windows is also expensive af.

  • @captain-jolokia oh ok

  • @creativestatue6 oh my bad then. I hope they change the price so everyone can enjoy the game.

  • @mcy0 They should actually give this game for free and just make us pay for the customisation... Have you ever tried a free-to-play MMO ? It is like SoT... monster bashing and farming... SoT is farming chests and bashing skelletons... exactly like a F2P MMO...

  • I did a simple google search on why games cost what.
Its completely the fault of the government's (and people who elect them) on those countries that set up policies and taxes and fines that contribute to the cost of the game. Australia is insane in how it treats games and buying them, i was shocked ( sorta) at thier policies towards games.
Blame your government not the game company.

  • @captain-jolokia there is also sales tax in the US which isn't listed as part of the price. I'd say around 9%. So about $65 US Dollars.

  • @tripleplayed Here in Switzerland, the taxes are 7.7%. Despite it is included in the 70 CHF, it is still more expensive than in the US... it should be no more than 65 CHF...

  • @captain-jolokia yeah they should make it the same, only difference I could think of is that since they don't want to upset physical retailers the digital price is tied to physical prices. So maybe its cheaper to ship physical copies to some locations vs others.

  • Cost around 70-100 loafs of bread in UK

  • @misterdoomed Why does Valve for example does a good region policy and reduces the cost of some games. As I said before, the developers could just implement a region lock and reduce the price of their product, so it could be affordable.

  • I wanted to buy a physical copy but it doesn't include the Black Dogs pack... that's why I preordered the game (and cancel it as well)...

Here a loaf of bread is about 3 CHF, so the game would costs 23-24 loafs of bread.

  • @creativestatue6 I blame socialism

  • @creativestatue6
Email that company and ask them why. But dont blame or expect special treatment because of where you live.
Where i live its expensive to buy certain things that have to be brought to me and i dont expect special treatment.
Likei said i googled it and read dozens and dozens of articles on trade, transportation and taxes and even import fines some countries impose.
Even if Microsoft caved in and gave you special prices because they feel bad that doesn't change your bigger problem thar led to the price in the first place so then the next game you want would still be to expensive and you would need more special treatment.
Im not being an a*s, im just saying try and fix the real problem not put tiny bandaids on each little scratch.

  • @perspective892 Here is no place for a political debate, we are talking about an economical side of a problem
