Does anyone know if the animal spawning is random or if they are assigned to certain islands yet?

@wearelegion Yeah, I agree. I thought they'd at least give a hint, but that does make it slightly more fun to hunt for them.
@ironnative25 It’s my adventure- I actually enjoy solo sailing around and exploring the islands.
First thing I wondered though, will animals be different from server to server? Will they appear at different times? Will they only be on islands if you engage with the Merchants? Testing this out will be fun.

Nah the randomness provides a better adventure (hence all the time you get to find them) if they were on specific islands you would just bee-line it to them all the time which becomes repetitive and dull.

@rdizz sadly not as accurate as ye would hope... I've been to islands that claim to hold chickens, and no a chicken to be found.
In me own humble experience, thar seems to be some conststancy an' some random. Smaller isles especially can be hit or miss, one day it be Isle of Pigs, the next it be nowt but sand and skeletons.
Perhaps the skeletons ate the pigs...
Pretty sure this is okay to pop in here too i use it alot on Merchant Voyages.
Sea of Thieves Interactive Map
This Sea of Thieves interactive map shows locations for points of interest such as the storm, current SoT Trade Routes, Tall Tale journals, Gold Hoarder riddle clues, skeleton forts, cannons, ammo crates, animals, cargo runs, and more.
@ixxolos tis a nice resource to have on hand, but beware... the map doesn't always tell the truth.
Shiver Retreat, for example. Ne'er once found a pig on that lonely rock.
