Sniper Rifle Still Broken While Scoped - Needs Sensitivity while scoped/zoomed option in menu

  • The idea that the scope terribleness is to balance PC and xbox is either a bad idea from them or the devs.

    If there really is balance concerns with it and this is their solution, then they should just take the damn thing out of the game. It is not fun to use as is, so why have it at all.

  • Good for you, maybe your mouse has a higher dpi than some others. Some people are playing this game on a lower quality mouse or lower dpi setting which makes it frustrating to scam the horizon with the spyglass on a gently rocking ship.

    A separate ratio slider would let everyone customize this to a comfortable setting. There is no downside to adding more customization options.

  • I thank you all for your discussion, I am definitely glad to see that I'm not the only one having issues.

    I would like to outline that regardless if you think the sens is ok or not, many pc players will just use dpi switches as I and some of you have pointed out (thank god) which will make the game unbalanced anyway. If the sniper rifle is such a concern they should just nerf the sniper rifle it self instead of making it unusable/unfun.

    I would also like to point out that I am one of those pc players that have the luxury of a dpi switch, my intentions of this post was always to point out the balance issues the current system has as it actually makes the game more unbalanced than it would be if they would give players free choice of their sensitivity. Right now I could just press a button on my mouse and have perfect sensitivity to aim with giving me such a huge advantage over people who are stuck only being able to aim effectively at long ranges.

    If you want to still call that balanced then I don't know how to convince you ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    It's not a bug. It's intentional. It's like that to avoid the rifle being a close quarters weapon. Quickscoping with sniper rifles has ruined modern online FPS's. Just look at Battlefield 1 and the ridiculous weapons that are in the game; almost every weapon has a 4x/10x scope. The 4x scope is ridiculous in close-medium range engagements; you hardly have to aim.

    Iron sights/no-scope are where the real skill comes into play, and this game is all about individual capability and not the weapons.

    that's just your opinion, These are just allegations on your part nothing else. You cant prove anything

  • They need to delete the Sniper and the Blunderbuss.

    The Sniper feels horrible scoped (without a DPI macro) and it just takes the fun out a Sword-Pistol fight if you have a mate pinging people from the crow's nest. There's something exciting about two people firing a pistol off and then going at it with swords.

    The Blunderbuss just straight up SUCKS for deck fights--especially on a Sloop. The small fight area just means that no other gun will come close to rivalling it. I know people can change weapons easily in the cabin, but even having a one-shot mechanic in such a jovial and relaxed game just seems bizarre.

    The pistol is fine. Even a scope-less rifle with a longer reload time and lower short-range damage would be fine. But getting one-shot by a blunderbuss when the game mechanics feel so loose is going to frustrate a lot of people.

    Make fights about pistols and swords and cannons. It's a bit slower, more tactical, and more piratey.

    Yea that slow sensitivity is an Bug and it will be fixed

  • The sniper rifle is designed for long range use. When you are aiming at something far away you don't need to move it much. Also learn to hip aim before looking through the scope. Look at the target first normally, then when it's in the middle of the screen, use the scope. At least get skilled before complaining.

    Realism? Makes no sens! Shooting people out of cannons ...! YAY!
    If your're using the "W", "A", "S", and "D" keys to move the cannon it's faster as with the mouse.

    RARE! Please give us an Option to scale the Sensivity for every possible ZOOM!

    What do you mean with "can't crank up the sensitivity for the ship"?

  • @ninehyde He's trying to equate turning your character with turning the ship, which is stupid because one you have direct control over, and the other is manipulated through a wheel.

    The fact is that the movement doesn't scale properly at any zoom level and should be fixed. Yes, a zoomed in view should move slower than the regular view but not to this level. No, this is not for balance.
