I hope that black dog pack will be unique for people who pre ordered the game and will never be available for other people to buy. What do you think ?

@fgfoot Pretty sure it will remain an exclusive one-off item. It would be very silly for Rare to go back on their word on this, its a preorder exclusive... a gift as you will for being early to the game.
@musicmee for example pre ordered bonuses from destiny 2 or WWE 2Ks ( just to name a few) afer few months were available for everyone to buy
@fgfoot That's Destiny 2 for you... struggling to have enough content to please the grinders so they are releasing everything they have as fast as they can.
I personally dislike features that are supposed to be exclusive to the people who played/tested a game in the run up to release or pre ordered said game only to have that 'exclusive' item(s) be made available to the commoners via cash shop. IMO an exclusive for someone who's invested more in a game or followed the game for a long time should remain just that.
Off the top of my head I am unable to provide examples, but, let's say Star Wars: The Old Republic has an epic outfit exclusive for beta testers and people who preordered or queued up at midnight in London, like I did, to get a limited version of the game. If that cosmetic was then made available via cash shop to the general public it would be a huge kick in the teeth for fans who have invested more time (and money) than anyone else.
Ofcourse, SWTOR is published by the scummiest s**m on this Earth and there is no comparison to Rare. However, if Rare were to later offer players the ability to buy the Black Dog pack off their cash shop I would be very unhappy.
Currently the game is £50 to pre-order (digital) and I would imagine that this will reduce once the game is released and has been available for a few months. I am probably repeating myself and I apologise for that, but if Rare then allowed a new player who paid the lower price (let's say £45) the option to also purchase the Black Dog outfit from the cash shop (regardless of the price of said outfit) I would demand that they refund the difference (£5 by this example).
@tyronius-89 Wargaming is pretty good about limiting exclusives for playing their games early. I have several tanks, planes, and warships from World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and World of Warships that I have because I was in Alpha and Beta tests for those games. Feels good to be asked where I got my ship in World of Warships, since seeing it is like seeing a unicorn.
Idk if SOT will keep exclusives exclusive. Only time will tell.
I hate exclusivity. I am getting the black dog pack for pre-ordering, but I don't want other people to be denied it just because they were late to the party. That has never done anything but produced hard feelings for people. If anything, make it a microstransaction item, that way they have to pay if they want it. My reward is I got it for free because I pre-ordered. And honestly, I don't need to feel superior for pre-ordering a game. Do we really care about this? Why? Why so entitled?
We need to be better at not being exclusive as a society. It produces undesired tension and stress and actually destroys opportunity.
@gholin Because we are entitled. Pre-ordered as required to get the outfit. If we wanted the outfit without doing as required THAT is acting entitled.
That said, I would be ok with them putting it in the cash shop half a year from now. Exclusives are cool though. Varies what people wear and makes for cool interaction and stories. Maybe a cycle, like temporary items and they come back once a year or something. Keeps people playing as often as they can if they have that collector's bug.
Normally id be one of those people who are like "NO I WANT IT TO COME BACK!" But seeing how i pre-ordered the game and how when i pre-ordered overwatch no one else can get that exclusive widowmaker skin now i sort of like the idea of owning a rare piece of clothing in game. So yeah. Hope it stays exclusive to those of us who pre-ordered. (Though i do sort of feel bad for those who didn't get to. ;p; Oh well. )
@musicmee I guess for me its annoying id have preordered but gamepass is giving me the for free (ive got about a year left). I want to support rare but buying the game doesn't make sense for me with gamepass. I would pay for the outfit, it looks like it might go well my midnight blunderbuss
@fgfoot agreed it should stay as a pre order bonus only and if anyone complains then they should have pre ordered the game as its been available for long enough and yeah shame about the destiny feature doing just that

I have to disagree with you. It doesn't create tension, it creates desire and longing. Pushing your self to to do what is necessary to obtain those items. It creates competition and drive.These items don't give you any advantage over another. But they do inspire....

I've missed many a kickstarter where 1/4 of the content of a game was locked behind exclusivity, and I never bought the game as a result.
I'm just saying if people want it later, they should be able to get it, but at cost. We get it free, they have to pay premium for it.
@musicmee I got a couple of years of gamepass at gamescom, so its free for me. I will continue to support the merch and in game stuff

Sure at launch I'm gonna stuff most of it in the crew locker because everyone has it, but after a three months they wont have a different selection of black colored attire? Will it have to have emeralds, silver, and the name Black Dog?
Not if they really want diversity. I expect Rare is more creative than that.
What if they have timed events where the reward is a hat? If I miss out on the event should I be able to buy the same hat anyway?
Let the Black Dog Pack be the sign of early adopters in SoT. Years after launch people should still recognize it for what it is.I, personally, would not mind if the set, or only certain pieces of it, became available later on (I doubt they will, of course).
I didn't pay any extra for it, so, it's not a big deal.I don't really like exclusive stuff like this, but whatever. I figure they are going to have a plethora of clothing options, so, I imagine there will be plenty of outfits to focus on instead.
It just wouldn't bother me and I wouldn't consider it a breach in contract or trust or anything. That's just my two bits though! ;)
I also wouldn't mind if the Ferryman outfit became available through something else (whether it be tied to another RL merch purchase or some other way... but I'd expect more resistance on that one, as people buy stuff JUST for the DLC). Still, thems my thoughts on it all.

While I'm not saying that they WILL or SHOULD sell it afterwards, I will say that the point could be that those who pre-ordered got it for free.
@fgfoot the cornerstone of the game is cosmetic upgrades and the ability to be your own, unique, pirate.
I expect that it will be exclusive as will things like kracken skin boots. (Something I just made up...but you get my point)
I have the pack and completely disagree. Exclusives are the one thing I freaking loath in this game! I think it would be great if they allowed newer players to actually unlock all the content they paid for. If its in my game files and others have access to it, I expect to be able to access it as well. I really hope the Founder sails and title get patched out at some point.

And to top it off, I Solo’d a Skelly Fort today, as of several hours ago, turned in thine-Chests and Skulls and Spices and Silk! To find that nither was it counted towards my pocket, nore’ Reputation! I fought so hard for those bloody chests! Soloing with a Sloop, and a cutlass and blunderbuss.
I’ve logged in and out several times since then, and I joined in on another crew who were turning in chests, and as they turned in a castaway, I gained the gold from that chest, but not out of the ones I actually earned MY-SELF?!
WHY IS THE GOLD, ALWAYS GONE!!!!
