Skeleton spawn rate

  • So between the beta and scale tests, some changes were obviously made to the skeleton spawn rate. I don't object to making these on land encounters more challenging, but I think they have gone overboard. If I'm exploring a large island, I would expect to face a number of skeletons, but the situation on tiny islands has gotten out of hand. The skeletons just keep respawning over and over with 10-20 seconds delay. You basically have to get what you came for and flee vs fighting over and over until you run out of ammo and/or food and have to return to ship. This is especially a problem for solo players (maybe not an issue for 4 person crews). The game has some great places to explore and that is one of the saving graces of a solo experience. Rare, please work on the spawn rate on the tiny islands at least. Sometimes a pirate just wants to hang out in the hot tub and drink some grog, man.

  • Yes and the spawn rate is way too high on some islands.

  • I think it has to do with the biome that the island is in as well. I don't think it's out of control, but it is enough to be challenging at times. A challenge is good. I know a key complaint of one of the previous tests were that the skelebois were a pushover.

  • The spawning rate lends itself to more challenges and satisfaction of besting skeletons and taking their treasures.

  • @ashmanforever I sort of liked it. kept me on my toes! What I want to see is a return of sharks. Seems like they hardly ever show up anymore. The water was much more frightening when you had to rush to get to your ship or on shore. Now you can simply dilly dally all day long like you are taking a leisurely swim, and one MIGHT show up. Boring....

  • @touchdown1504 I kind of like the decrease in sharks. It allows you to explore shipwrecks more thoroughly and get more treasure. And I don't mind the overall increase in skeletons. Before it was dull, I agree. I just think they need to tweek some smaller islands where they are spawning with minimal delay. If you kill a wave of skeletons, you deserve a little time to explore, certainly more than 10 seconds.
