Instrument Music Selection

    I've looked in the forums and generally discussions about instruments are about being able to add your own music or play the instrument manually.
    They're a bit of an overshooting as of now but mine is a simple function that could be added to the current instruments system:

    • Left Mouse Button - Play the current tune
    • Right Mouse Button - Skip to next tune

    This would avoid the roulette while trying to play a specific tune, which is not much of a problem but is, mechanically, bit of an awkward experience.
    It should either show the title of the tune you skip to (many players don't know what they're called) or you could be able to find out by playing it.
    Holding RMB should make you play the tune that you've skipped to as you normally would with LMB.

    I have a feeling it will be change picking a song as Rare said they will be adding more songs. Good idea though.

    I'm sure there's going to be about 10-12 one day and I definitely wouldn't want to cycle through that either.
    A menu is certainly better. But for the meantime...

    @acedseth Maybe they will add a way to put the song in your inventory from say a chest etc. That way you keep your favorite ones on you but can change them up at any time.

    I'm not sure I would like that, sounds a bit too elaborate and limiting, and seeing how they want things to be intuitive for the most part that would just be a hindering part.
    Wouldn't music sheets be cool ingame though?!

    @acedseth Its no different then the two weapon selection they did not for the last test. Except we could have say 5 songs at a given time on you but go below the ship and change it out any time you want.

    Ah yes, I've heard of Black Flag's approach to it.
    Very nice idea, a collection would work fine and as long as it's just a music sheet box or something that is on the ship and you could contain about 5 that would be really good.

    Well, I'm sure they already have a menu or something for the selection, in the works, anyway.
    I just hadn't seen many ideas for how to select them and this idea popped up for me, also because RMB has currently no use with the instruments. Maybe it will pop up the selection.

    The hurdy gurdy could sound a lot more like the real thing. Right now it sounds mostly like a violin. However it's missing a drone sound, these instruments actually sound a lot like bagpipes, also the instrument usually has a buzzing bridge that is used to play rhythm.

    Make the hurdy gurdy sound like a real hurdy gurdy and then you can add the violin and the instruments will sound different.

    Hmm... Maybe this is off topic. I thought at first it was about adding instruments.
