What to do with the money?

  • Apart from the cosmetics and the trade company's, there has not been comfirmed anything to use your money on.

I was thinking that maybe resouces like cannonballs, planks and bananas would work well as something you can buy.

Me and my friends have tried running out of all these things plenty of times before, because we did not put enough time into gathering them.
And I thought that maybe apart from what you start with, you could buy a supply of resources before setting sail (only for that one ship ofc.) To take with you.

  • Maybe they gonna add new cosmetic items regularly so you can always spend your gold on those and if I remember correctly you will be able to buy some of the Micro Transaction items with ingame currency, other than that nothing has been confirmed yet.

  • Just as long as there's a limit, I've gathered with a crew before, We had over 100 cannons in the barrels on ship, And you'll get players that have farmed for gold and purchased 100s of resources rather than gathering, so they could sail for days without worry because they bought enough resources to take down an army of Galleon and 3 Krakens.

  • Well ships won't be persistent and therefore storage won't be. That's my assumption. If you can buy restocks, there's always that to waste gold on (which would be a good gold sink). My hope is that they'll add in "end-game" missions that you pay a bunch of gold for to hunt down some sacred/secret treasure that MIGHT give you an epic (looking) item exclusive to those mission types (RNG rage here I come). That would be a great gold sink and something to strive for in PVE.

In addition to adding other things to buy with gold like cosmetics. Additionally they mentioned somewhere they wanted to release pets. Perhaps gold can purchase cosmetics for them and/or pet food or something. (inb4 "Sea of That's the cutest pet piggy I've ever seen")

  • Buy all the pretty shinies!

  • @maia Its been said that the pets are microtransaction only, and I would assume that everything related to them would too.

  • @kampp322

Never know though. It wouldn't be the first game to have micro-transaction pets with in-game purchasable "things." Even if the things are basic such as buying food to heal them if they get hurt or something.

  • @its-s****. I know that there is a carry limit on the ship and that should balance out things.

But then again. If your ship goes down, so does your stuff.

  • @maia well anyhow, its hasent been talked about.

  • @kampp322

Well of course. It's speculation :P A lot of what anyone has to say is going to be speculation at this point. That's some of the fun of chatting about the game prior to release!

  • There will be more to buy in the released game than we saw in the beta, but all that has been confirmed is that it will be more voyages and cosmetics.

  • You bury it on a island somewhere like pirates do!

  • @kampp322 microtransaction only for the pets WILL SUCK insert word, i want a chicken :P

  • @brandonblk Dont know what to tell you, but that seems to be the case.

  • @erikinthebakery Yep and thats what im worried about!

  • @kampp322 said in What to do with the money?:

@erikinthebakery Yep and thats what im worried about!

    Why is that a worry?

  • @erikinthebakery Well personaly I would like to see something else beside it, because I like to find one style of clothes and then just role with that for the most part. So something like resources would give me just that.

  • @brandonblk @Kampp322 and everyone else worried about micro-transaction only pets.

"There will be a chance of acquiring them other ways, but we’re not going to go, ‘you can earn everything by playing’, the way some people claim, even though you have to play for 60,000 hours or something,” Neate says. “There will be a chance to acquire some of this stuff in the game, by rewards and chance, but if you want to guarantee a specific pet then you have to buy.”
