  • @elitedrifter354 Then bigger boats would be needed as well, AWESOME!

  • No please...

  • @edgelesscrib333 yes they will be needed

  • I've been on many boats with 8-12 people in Sea of Thieves. It is not a better Experience.

  • @m4tt3r4u 'cause the boat isn't big enough...

  • They've messed around with crew sizes. Four is good. Imagine 12 people all trying to talk at once during gameplay. It isn't fun.

  • I think it would be pretty cool to have a 5-6 player ship but the problem with that would be solo players complaining, I have 137 hours played mainly solo and I dont think that a bigger ship would be a problem since it would even easier to stay where they cant shoot back at you. Id be fine with even bigger crews aswell but I think once you get above 10 it might start to be a bit much

  • @explosiveboby ye they should keep it below 10

  • I think the crew number is fine atm but I'm hoping that they release some sort of fleet system so that you can identify other friendly ships.

  • Larger crews? How many people can you talk to at once to have engaging or productive dialog before it starts to drop off and people are talking over one another?

  • @elitedrifter354 ermmm no! so a solo player is now got to defend from 8 people the only way this would work is too make ships slower but then you dont need 8 people for a ship so there will be bored people

  • @elitedrifter354 ur idea is a bit late atm game comming out in less then a month and doing this they gonna have to remake almost the full mechanic of the battle on sea so dont think gonna happen

  • @spectrazy666 They have said that they are going to try and continue to update the game after launch so a new ship or ships could come out later

  • @benplaysgames52 As a solo play you should not be able to just shoot back and forth with a galleon since they have so much more fire power so you have to shoot them when they cant shoot you back or board them with explosive barrels, Id imagine that a even bigger ship would be easier to fight in cannon combat since they would turn slower then the galleon

  • This should be a priority. Most of us have more than 3 friends we'd like to play with online. If you can't put 5,6,7 people on a ship fine, but how about incorporating a "fleet" mentality. Let crews of 4 sail alongside one another.

  • I think crew size is fine the way it is,but add a new variety of ships down the line, but same crew size.

  • I don't think that the galion really needs extra crew in it if it had eight their is really no sense of urgency and would discourage people to go solo even more it would be unfair if you and a friend were rammed by a galion and were swarmed by eight people

  • @explosiveboby

This has less to do with what's possible and more to do with balance.

So long as solo and two man sloops exist, they cannot have ships or crews any larger than 4.

As it is, the sloop has a hard enough time dealing with galleons.

With even a crew of 6, half the crew could shoot themselves over to your ship while the other half could still maintain their vessel and pummel a sloop. It would be impossible sailing the seas against crews larger than 4.

    I don't' see this changing.

  • @stem589 I think that a sloop should usually be able to beat a galleon even solo players, I understand how some people have problems fighting galleon though. If you are one of the people who has problems fighting a galleon try to stay where they cant shoot back at you, as long as they dont climb up both ladders at the same time and you dont let someone sneak on you should not really have a problem keep them off of your ship while you whittle them away when they cant shoot back

I disagree, I have played World of Warcraft in 40 man raids and was able to have huge conversations between important bits of the raid and was able to function as a cohesive group when needed. Random crews it wouldn't work for but crews of 6 would be easy to manage.

  • @explosiveboby ok so tell me how am i meant to be able to sneak onto a 8 man ship as a solo im just saying that would be way to op

  • @explosiveboby erm i highly doubt most sloops can beat a galleon every sloop ive faced got destroyed because we have 4 cannons and they have 1

  • @benplaysgames52 I would prefer if they add bigger ships to start out adding a 5-6 man ship since 8 might be a bit much but you could sneak onto an 8 man ship the same way you get onto a 4 man ship

As a sloop you shouldnt be able to just sit and shoot back and forth with a galleon since they have more cannons and would win that way so to win you have stay where they can shoot back at you which means them having more cannons doesnt even matter since they cant shoot you

  • Rare have already said 4 is the magic number, and that won't change anytime soon.

  • @explosiveboby what if the galleon is sitting at a island or chasing me they will catch up fast anyway

  • @benplaysgames52 If a galleon is just sitting at an island than you dont need go and fight them anyway, if they are chasing you the way you get away is abuse how you can move your sails faster than them so you should always be able to catch the win faster and get away ( ive also heard that if you go straight into the wind the sloop goes faster but I havent tried this before)

  • @explosiveboby they have 3 i have one a galleon without full wind is still fatser than a sloop

  • @explosiveboby

The combat lesson is unnecessary. I succeeded against galleons on sloops more times than not.

That said, having sailed both ships I can say with full certainty that the primary advantage a sloop has over a galleon is that they're typically comprised of well coordinated, practiced single or 2 man crews.

Galleons are almost always 4 PuG players yelling at each other with one at the helm and 3 people taking poor cannonball shot and nobody patching and bailing.

Even then, its a close fight.

With a coordinated 4 man crew, the galleon wins every time. They annihilate a sloop.

With larger crews, it would be impossible, even if they were a shipwreck of a crew.

  • @elitedrifter354 I dont think so bec then is will be so unfair to the 2 man crews.

  • increasing the crew makes sense, even if they talk about problems with the coordination of players, not all players are poorly coordinated. I've been to many MMOs, but even if it's true, I do not see any problems, and 4 players play well enough, and if you enter a system with a lot of players, you have to balance the game so that people who play do not whine (my English is bad) you can open different types of servers, including those where solo people will be able to meet the team 6-8 , I heard about one of the talks about swimming under the same flag, it would be nice, but some restrictions for the number of players or ships under the flag

  • @elitedrifter354 start with your crew of 4, there is nothing stopping you from allowing non crew members on the boat, you could legit have 8 ppl or more on your ship. make it a party boat....

  • there is also the "small" problem of the max players being like 20

the game is just beginning its own development) I do not see any problems in this, it is not worth hurrying to shove things all at once
