PC - Bad Performance

  • My game run fine in the open Beta but now I am in the full release I get terrible frame drops on legendary and below If I am running at 1080 on full screen.
I can run it on legendary on windowed mode or at 900p fine but the full screen mode just ruins me and I seem to encounter that soft framecap everyone has been talking about so much.

Sometimes it will happen and lock at 30 and last night it even capped at 20 =/

    980 TI
    I7-5820 3.GHZ
    16gb

    windows version 1703

Any ideas of how to fix this?

  • Game is running fantastically on my AMD rig. The graphics are very beautiful, I am mesmerized. Frames feel smooth as butter. I have the day 1 Radeon update for Sea of Thieves that Ted mentioned. Getting 100+ Fps

    Vega64, Radeon 1800x 4.1ghz, 16gb ram 3200mhz
    2560x1440p mythical settings

  • I have 2 gtx 1080 ti and a I7 and running on common settings getting 30 FRAMES.W*F.

  • I am seeing between 40 and 60 fps while playing online with friends and solo I was able to get in the low 100's.

Windows version 1709 (OS Build 16299.309)
    2560 X 1440 resolution
    I7 7820x OC to 4.6 GHz
32Gb of 3000Mhz Corsiar Vengeance RAM
AORUS GTX 1080Ti OC to 2050 on the core with 11Gb of VRAM
The OS is on a 960 EVO M.2 SSD and the game is on my 1Tb 850 Evo SSD.

Playing as low as 1080p with everything on cursed still doesn't yeild anything over 55 fps while online with friends.
That said I feel like not being able to run a solid 144FPS to match my refresh rate on a solo ship is out of the norm considering there is more than enough power available.

While playing the game my CPU sits around 10-12 percent used and the GPU is pegged at 100 percent. FYI.

  • Update to my findings. When I start a game from a fresh bootup I have between 140-200 fps depending on scenery.

That's by myself or with friends, however if I alt-tab out of the game(full screen or not) it imediatley goes down to 40fps and basically stops using my CPU.

My GPU usage is 100% but the CPU is 10-12% with basically only one core actively doing anything. Seems like the game doesn't know how to resume or it's storing something so the next time I play on the same boot it's not utilizing my system as it should.

  • Hello again to who ever is reading this. I have been able to come to a conclusion to my issue. I spent allot of time troubleshooting my system from updating the bios, chipset, and graphics drivers all from a fresh install.

None of that changes anything besides my blood pressure lol, but I started to move my RAM modules around and came to the conclusion I had a bad set of RAM modules.

Running my rig with one set of Corsiar Vengeance 3000Mhz 16Gb (2x8) and I have no issues. Maxed settings and uncapped framerate at 2560 x 1440 yeilds around around 150ish fps with a drop on certain lslands which I believe are known to lower fps due to foliage etc.

So in conclusion I recommend people also troubleshoot their RAM. All of mine passed Memchek and aside from gaming had no other symptoms of bring I'll. It wasn't until I physically made some changes did I get any results.

  • @necrostatixnl Today's we've experienced really jerky screen movement, don't know if its an fps issue, but i've tried all the settings, different res, vsync, etc., what's wrong with this??
I have a 7700K at 1080 gtx, 32gb ram, so its not my hardware.

  • I had the same problem with low performance. In my case it was Asus GPU Tweak which caused it. After restarting it, I went from 20 fps to 60fps.

  • the game is fine. fix your computer.
