A door and a key..

  • So I found a door and it needs a key, so are there going to be multiple places with such interactions? I assume it's not The Door for the legendary cove so I'm wondering what other purpose it may have in the full game...
This looks like it could be the treasure room, the key for which given as a drop from the boss fight above it.

Every "skeleton fort" islands. There will be a giant skull cloud in the sky above a random skeleton fort and every crew will converge to that point, it will be a raid of some sort, there will be a tons of skeletons with a skeleton boss, the boss will drop the key to open the door hiding a lot of chests.

  • Those islands would be very pleasuring to do! and the challenge that will be to fight those skeletons and try to compete with other crews to get this key, i supose you already know about this little "raids" in the game right?

  • Did this today after hard work got no loot in the door room

  • Are the keys exclusive to the island you got it on?

  • @adaven-hatu I have not tried it. Even so it is foolish to try it in other strengths because there is no treasure within them.

In an active fortress, if you are above the treasure chamber and look down, you will see in the holes of the ground that there is treasure. In non-active fortresses or in which there has been no raid the camera is empty.

  • @adaven-hatu
No, the keys will open any fort vault door, but not all have treasure in!

  • Could you give us a bit more detail? Maybe where you found the lock/door?

  • What happens to the key when you lose in the ocean after beating the skull fort in Sea of Thieves

  • @lhr-lowgu When loot is dropped in the ocean (skeleton key included), it will float for a short amount of time then sink, eventually falling through the ocean floor and despawning. When this happens to a key, the fort will still have loot inside, but with no key, it will be inaccessible. Eventually a new skull cloud will spawn over that fort, meaning a new key, making the vault accessible again.
