Color blind settings

  • I had several instances playing the beta where I lost or confused player names green vs the white. Made for some hilarious accidental battles against my crewmates after boarding ships before my eyes made out the green.

Some options to change friendly/enemy tags to at least deuteranopic and protoanopic settings or better yet allow us to personally customize the tag colors would help a lot with this.

  • @countsie I was wondering if someone would eventually suggest this, as I saw it as a potential problem. I'm not colorblind, but I have a few friends who are and had similar experiences! Here's to hoping they add support!

  • I honestly hadnt considered this.

Upvoting and posting to help more people see this!

  • @countsie I’m not colorblind but upvoting. Hopefully they add a colorblind mode to help those players out.

  • I was thinking to suggest that too but someone already made a post of it, just saying...

  • @lawdarkerr you're right. There are two others plus this one. Still, bumping for exposure can't hurt.

  • I've got a good friend that enjoys playing this game who is colour blind and a new mode would benefit him greatly! Great idea!

  • Great suggestion, I've had problems in previous games with mixing up enemies and friendlies all the same, luckily I don't have that problem with SoT. Let's hope they put support in for those that do.

  • Should be fixed asap. Everyone should be able to play the game properly. Although I would love to see my teammate try to kill me. Sounds funny enough

  • @shadowstrider-7 @Lawdarkerr I found a 10 month old dead thread on it addressed in the alpha:
    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/7698/color-blind-optons
You have to search for "colorblind" or "color-blind". Searching "color blind" didn't reveal it for me initially. If there are other threads on this I haven't run into them with a bit of daily lurking.

The tech alpha had red and green tags from my understanding. Those colors don't confuse as easily but still cause problems depending on your -anopea type and severity. My brother has a much harder time than I do with both red and green.

Thanks all for bumping this. Hopefully SOT will be a color blind friendly title :)

  • No problem dude, im happy here to help you with this problems, i mean, isnt that hard to implement a new ui colors and change some isle painting to help you :) i hope so

  • @countsie I only saw two other threads. One from 8 months ago and one from 10 months ago. I'm surprise more people haven't made threads over this. Hopefully you guys get the options you need to enjoy the game like everyone else!

  • @Countsie

It's been brought up a couple of times on here but, it's been quite awhile...

To be honest, it's not an issue that I have to deal with so I really didn't think about it until I read about it on here. That being said, I'll give a +1 to the "petition" of a working colorblind system / option in the game.
