I cant seem to play the game for moe than 5 minutes somtimes only 10 seconds without this error popping up. Any ideas why? Its not disconnecting from xbox live. I've checked and played other games like PUBG and gears with no issues what soever. I even tried SoT on PC and it did the exact same thing. Anyone else having this issue?
Bugging the hell out of me because i really wanna play!
Connect to Xbox Live Error (cyan beard)
@kaptaln-klrk could be speed of your internet, could be you are not 'allowed' to play due to it being closed beta, describe the problem more detail, is it this:
Booting up SoT, logging in to SoT Servers & playing as/with (Galleon-4/Sloop-2/Sloop-1 ship + people)
5 Minutes Into The Game It Logs You Out, Please Confirm Or Add-On :)@z1n6 hmm shouldnt be my speed, I get 250mbs up. So should be that.
so what happens is Ill log in and run around in game for anywhere between 10 seconds to 5 minutes, its random. Then it will disconnect me and show" Please connect to xbox live (cyan beard)" Some error similar to that, but I know thats the error code. And I've tried it on my PC too, and I weirdly get the same issue, disconnects after a random minute and the Cyan beard issue.
I dont have any issues with multiplayer on any other games, its just SoT.
My NAT settings are open on my xbox. So I really havnt the slightest idea where the issue could be.@kennobie Im sad to hear that but glad im not the only one.
Any luck with finding any solutions or anything?I have the same issue on PC. Disconnecting with the cyanbeard error around every 10 minutes.
Changing the NAT settings didnt change anything (before they were strict) except the voice chat through the xbox app.
Maybe the problem is that i am in Europe (Germany) and the servers are worldwide, i guess that might cause problems?
Is there a plan for regional servers to improve connection stability? Also my internet is as fast as it gets in germany ...
Anyone knows how to fix this (if it is on the client side)?
Hopefully there is a fix before launch, otherwise the game is just unplayable.
@ewino Yea, I havnt been able to get it fixed at all.
I have however gained some ground.
But first i know its not on our side, All of my other games work perfectly in multiplayer. So it means its something on their server side.
But On my router (netgear) there was an actual option to turn off NAT and make it open, so i did that. And then I turned off my WWM and QOS. So it didnt delegate special network needs to stupid stuff, I got a full hour hahaha, then it went back to like 5 mins. soooo some ground. And they havnt responded to my ticket either, im assuming they have no idea.
I did notice that it works with a hard wire. So if someone knows the issue between a wired and non-wired, then theres the answer. So, i installed a fresh version of windows 10 yesterday with no additional programs except drivers. The game still crashes with the cyanbeard error. The NAT now displays as moderate, whatever that means.
It feels like the game crashes when approaching outposts and works fine in between.
My Fritz.Box has default settings except that the terendo filter is turned off.
I am using a WLAN dual band connection with 2,4 and 5 GHz ... but i don't think thats the problem since all other games work fine.Maybe the game does not handle package loss well?
Here is my hardware configuration:
- I5-6600 quad core
- GeForce GTX 970
- 16 GB Ram
- Qualcomm Atheros AR938x Wireless Network Adapter
Btw, i love the game (if it works) :-)
Same here,

Stabile 50K Leitung, I have NEVER random disconnects!!! except "cyanbeard!" But in my fritzbox log i can see, that there was no disconnect at all!!!
Lan Cable Cat 5@prunca Ahoy there! Sorry to bear you are constantly getting disconnected.
Take a look at the following post, which I know has fixed it for a lot of people.
https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/27541/keep-getting-disconnected/14
@musicmee Believe me, i have checked it. I did all this stuff. Nothing is Blocked. Teredo works. Enterprise Client is active. I don´t know what to do anymore.
@kaptaln-klrk The same thing was happening to me until i readjusted my wifi antenna on my PC. And reset my router.
I had this problem, too.
Since the closed beta (including the three scale tests and the final beta) I got disconnected every 10-30 minutes with the cyanbeard error.
However, I found out that indeed it has to be a problem with the Microsoft/Xbox-service-connection and it's not a hardware problem. I tried SoT on different devices in the same network and it didn't change anything. Also, especially users of routers from Fritzbox seem to be affected...I also reported this issue to the support, hopefully there will be a fix in the final version of the game.
Thank you microsoft for nice release after all scale test (no)
So i have this problem too and yesterday im lost all my progress (almost 7 hours im play for nothink, 3 fking ships full of chests)
Im from Moscow and my pc configuration:I5-6600k quad core

stable 50k internet conection. I have NEVER random disconnects!!! except in sea of thieves.. "cyanbeard!" But in my fritzbox log i can see, that there was no disconnect at all!@ZcD-Skormkill I have found posts in an unrelated forum from 2015 regarding our Fritz Box IPv6 and the problems it caused with XBox One players. I also found a similar, recent thread like this here in the forums which advised, just like the older posts, to disable IPv6.
I haven't played the game today, but will in a few hours with IPv6 disabled. I will return here this evening to share the results. If you wish to try it yourself, here is where you will find the option in your Fritz Box 7412 settings to disable IPv6:
Internet > Zugangsdaten > IPv6
I realise you may be german just as I, and the instructions are in german also, but perhaps there is someone out there who has some use to what I've written here just as you.
@kraeheherbst68 This may help in your case, at least to change your Nat type to "open".
@igelflosse have played tow houres without cyanbeard. ipv6 off works so good. i test it tomorow again. iam so happy. :) :)
