  • The game isn't crashing it just has a really long load time, I usually watch a you-tube video while I wait. But maybe yours does crash.

  • @hammeric sure it crash, it crash while loading (when it say ''discovering services'')

  • @capitanmikon This screen is showing
    It crash on this screen

  • @capitanmikon well Im not sure then, I know I have an insanely long loading time on both xbox and PC but Rare does track crash reports.

  • @capitanmikon yea that's not a crash my dots stop moving but I eventually get in

  • @capitanmikon @Hammeric have crash to. i just launch the game start load and he closed. not errors windows nothing he just closed. need help too

  • @streetsh well, another having similar issue :/

  • Any help from devs? Cant even make ticket....

  • I have the same crash:

a small sea picture of thieves surrounded in gray color, turn to the black screen with 3 white dots and go to the windows without error code.

  • I'm having this happen to me as well and it happened a few times during the alpha. It sucks to do but I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked fine afterwards. I also would mention it in the forums as a heads up that it happened for devs keeping score lol but it's the fastest "fix" I found.

  • @xxalfonzxx its working only for you probably, as i said i reinstalled it many times

  • @capitanmikon oops, my bad. I completely missed that you had written that. I apologize :(

  • I posted about this in a different thread where several people reported the same issues. Unfortunately no one had found a solution there either.

    @sir-knut said in Discoveing services:

Finally I found someone with the same problem as me. I start up Sea of Thieves Closed Beta, and get to the part where it says "Sea of Thieves Alpha" (shouldn't it say Closed Beta?). Below is the "press any button to continue". When I press a key it changes to "Signing in", then goes on to "Discovering services" and immediately freezes and after a few seconds crashes to desktop. No error message.

    Things I've tried:

    • Uninstall the game, download it again and reinstall
    • Reset Microsoft Store
    • Uninstall Insider Hub and reinstall it
    • Change Win10 login from local account to Microsoft/XboxLive login
    • Disabling antivirus and firewall (both Comodo)

No change so far. Same result throughout yesterday and today.

  • Still no fix?

  • I have had to re-install it after every reboot because it crashes with no error message right away after showing the splash screen. Planning to just not reboot until the closed beta is over. Was the same for me in alpha, wondering if it's due to installing it to a non-C: drive?

  • @sirbarnacle itried instalo it to c drive too, still same issue

  • @capitanmikon @sirbarnacle

You should be able to raise a ticket via this link, look for 'My Requests' at the top of the page as well as other help articles -

  • @katttruewalker i wish i could, but i cant even make ticket. It show me blank page with this: {"Message":"An error has occurred."} and showing me this website: https://login.seaofthieves.com/webauthentication/logout?kind=error&message=Invalid+data+from+remote+sign-in+mechanism.+Missing+name+or+email.

  • @CapitanMikon @KattTruewalker
Please beware that the issue sirbarnacle is having is not the same as the op and the rest of us are having. This thread is specifically talking about the "Discovering services" crash, where reinstalling the game has no effect.

  • Still no fix here? Just like a lot of the other posters, I am having this issue. It gets to "discovering services, then the game crashes to windows with no message. I have tried having firewall and Comodo turned off, I have reinstalled the game, Insider Hub, XBox app, I cannot for the life of me figure this out.

  • @alanarias if you have comodo, uninstall it and try. If it wont work idk, i have still the problem, like many others

  • @capitanmikon , I just tried this and can confirm.
Comodo will block the game, and turning Comodo Antivirus off is not enough to get around the issue, uninstalling it was the only way to go.
Guess I will have to use a different Anti-Virus software for now.
    Thank for the response.

  • @alanarias glad to hear you solved your problem, hope someone will solve 'our' problem with discovering services crash

  • @alanarias Really? So Comodo actually has to be completely removed? That's strange. I would've thought that disabling it had the same effect. I have Comodo antivir+firewall too and I'm sure I've seen another person somewhere mention Comodo as well. I'll try removing it and update this post after. You don't have Comodo @CapitanMikon ?

EDIT: I can confirm that after uninstalling Comodo Internet Security it doesn't freeze on "Discovering services" anymore.

  • @sir-knut i dont use comodo, i dont have any antivirus, even defender is off.

  • Finally i am able to make ticket so im going to ask support for help. Also i found crash dump files from game.

  • @capitanmikon Ok, sorry it didn't provide you with a solution. Good luck with the support ticket!

  • Read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/comments/7kahl9/game_keeps_crashing_on_discovering_services_at/drt5wox/

  • I don't have COMODO so I that would not be the reason why it crashes (for me anyway).

  • @loneseaturtle said in Discovering Services - crash when loading:

same here, uninstalled comodo now. rebooted computer, used also Advanced system care for find som error ect.. but nothing. Crash always.

  • I have Xbox and my game loads to the sea of thieves title screen goes black for like 2 mins then dashboards me to home . Was wondering if anyone had a solution for my problem

  • Same error, and no AntiVir Installed.

    Nothing helps.

I'm so angry about this kind off big bug, which have been seen in previous tests and nothing was done.

  • I completly deinstalled and deactivated all firewalls, i had emsisoft malware scanner as AV and didn't think of it at first. I deactivated the protection and even gave a permission, but only uninstall fixed it.

    HAPPY!

  • I also ran into the problem of crash after "press any button to continue". When I press a key it changes to "Signing in", then goes on to "Discovering services" and immediately freezes and after a few seconds crashes to desktop. No error message. I do not have any antivirus software.
Who has already dealt with the problem?
