Solo, Grieffing and other feedback

  • I understand that this is still in Beta and we have not seen actual gameplay and instead we are testing game mechanics. A lot more will come in further betas and more in the release. Here is my feedback on a couple of points.

    1. let's start with Griefing
I don't think PvP is griefing. I don't think a pirate ship that is waiting at the dock to steal your loot is Griefing. I mean, we are pirates.

"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho."

Stealing treasures from other ships is literally the description of a pirate life. I am not too familiar with how the ship sinking works but it would be cool if after sinking a ship the ship will remain in-world for 10-15-30 minutes to allow the winner to recover the loot (if any) that was in the ship.

If you want to hunt and dig for treasures from maps that's one way of playing
If you want to hunt and steal for treasures from others that's another way of playing and totally valid.

    1. Let's go on with Solo Play

I do believe that there should be a true solo play where it's just you on the map. But there should be significantly reduced rewards and limited mechanics to encourage matchmaking, but still allowing the "casual play after a bad day at work and you don't want to deal with people anymore" kind of day.

By adding real solo play, the PvP would be in a fairer environment which will match crews vs crews and not big a*s ships vs a little 1 player barge that stands no chance.

    1. Other Feedback

This game looks amazing and I've seen/read many little tidbits that make the game more interesting on release (like compasses not working in storms, making us think twice before attempting to sail through it) and different activities to do.

Having said that I feel that this game isn't a game that you will be no-lifing or have it as your main game. This game I see it more of a "party game" or a " let's take a break from our main game for a bit. There is not enough depth to the game to make it into a "main" game.
This brings me to the next issue I have. FULL AAA PRICE TAG? (60USD - 80CAD) That is A LOT for what this game is, It's not even a full-time game. 1/2 the price would be a more realistic price tag for what this game is. Unless you are hiding something big, you will lose a lot of sales just because of the price tag you applied on it.

    would you rather
100 people buy your game at 60$ (600$)
or 400 people buy your game at 30$ (1200$)

The game itself is beautiful, the water physics AMAZING!!! the art style BRILLIANT! just consider the feedback higher up and you guys might have the best pirate game yet in the market
