Time is comming to speak about THE THING which has been added to Sea of Thieves beta.
I named : The Sniper.
Firstly, look is good, sound is good, AIM dot is funny. Yeah at first look sniper seem OK BUT the AIM sensibility mechanism is just HORRIBLE !
Let me clarify something before I continue, I'm aggree with the fact that SoT ins't CS,ARMA,COD or wathever fast FPS. And we must stay honnest : THIS ins't the goal of SoT !
This vision explain the current sniper AIM. Currently, the AIM is something like : sensibilityVal/10. It's seem quite logic to add this to avoid quick shoot, quick scoping etc etc. But I think this mechanism isn't the best we can have.
I'm a PC player, default sensi is 5.0, I need to play in 2.0, so in "normal view" my sensi is good, but when I aim with sniper I need to move my mouse like (excuse me for that) a r****d 3 times to move to 30°~. I have some difficulties to focus charging sharks !!
I will take another item which need to AIM => the telescope
I have made some tests, and telescope AIM is sensibilityVal/5 ( only devs have real values), but the scope is clearly faster than sniper.
So, I think sniper AIM should be reworked. To do this 2 possibility :
- 1 : Decrease sniper AIM dividor by 6-7 (maybe 5 need to test)
- 2 : Change sniper AIM calculation => Instead just doing a simple division, dev should try to divide AIM by a Logarithm calculation ? Or something else which is based on : More you have sensibility more the dividor factor will be high.
PS : I don't know if this feels is for Xbox players ! Feel free to add your experience :)
