Why on Earth cant we have 3 people on the smaller ship

  • The small ship is literally ideal for 1-3 players. Idc what you tell me, the big ship needs a full crew to be ran efficiently, at the very least 8 people. I mean, for c****t sake you need all 4 people to raise the anchor or you're there for 5 minutes, the sails take forever to raise and lower, the sails are too big for the captain to see so you need someone in the crows nest, then you need someone in the map room. Not to mention if you're fighting with another ship. Do you guys honestly believe that a 4 man crew and out maneuver a smaller ship of 2 people? You're literally bait. I wanna play the beta with 2 friends, its ridiculous that we cant use the smaller ship

  • First of all you should rarely drop anchor, if ever. Only stop by raising sails, the ship won't go anywhere, just time it properly. Besides, you can raise the anchor fairly quickly with only three already.

Second, you don't need a guy to always be in the lower deck to check the map. Simply check once where you have to go, know the direction, and keep going that way. You'll get there, and if you have doubts there's always time to get to the lower deck and give it a quick check again.

The sails' time needed to be raised or lowered is about right. You only raise them when you want to stop at an island, or when you want to turn more quickly in combat, but in the latter you usually only need to raise one or two sails and a lone crewman can manage to do that fast enough.

You don't need someone in the crow's nest to see where you're going, but merely at the bow of the ship. Otherwise you can simply raise a tiny bit the front sails.

The sloop would be completely unbalanced with more than 2 players, it cannot happen.

Apart from this, the galleon, despite being slower at turning than the sloop, is faster so it makes chasing easier, it has more firepower and it sinks slower. It's all about having a good crew and using it well. I hope this helped you. :)

  • @gotgabriele You actually don't have to go down to see the map. Just let go of the wheel, , turn around and walk up to the railing. You can see the map pretty clearly from there.

  • @captain-surgee I was referring to the galleon, and to other crewmen taking care of it. ^^

  • @gotgabriele I'm not saying its impossible to run the big ship with 4 people, im saying it's not what i want to be forced to do. I'd much more prefer that i could play with 2 friends on the smaller ship, i see no reason why not.

  • @oklesrace it’s meant to be like that

  • @oklesrace I see, but as I explained above three pirates on the sloop would probably be completely unbalanced for the current system.

  • Hello, which ship should I take if I want to play with ONE friend ?
    Thanks :)

  • @kojiira The sloop is designed for 1-2 pirates. I suggest you go with that unless you also wish to play with strangers. :)

  • @gotgabriele I thought the game was meant to let you have fun my bad

  • @oklesrace I'm sorry you feel that way about the game, but as it is right now you can have plenty of fun, whereas if it were unbalanced you would be ruining everybody else's enjoyment.

  • @oklesrace No problem. Everyone makes mistakes. We are humans, after all :D

  • @gotgabriele Thanks ! But can I switch the ship after ? Or is it definitive if I take it ?

  • @kojiira You can always switch once you decide to leave the session, don't worry!

  • @gotgabriele It isn't unbalanced if you allow everyone to do it, it also isnt unbalanced if you allow more people to be on the bigger ship as well. There is literally, and i mean literally, no advantage about being on the bigger ship in this current state. As far as it being faster, you could argue that, but i've literally chased a smaller ship with a full crew for half an hour, and he could easily 180 around us and get to wherever he liked, where as we needed to have everyone on to sails just to attempt to keep up. So unless your prey is 8 years old and their plan is to go straight and only straight, you're out of luck.

  • @gotgabriele Nice, thanks again :D

  • @kojiira You're welcome!
