Does anyone play Blackwake?

  • Blackwake is strictly a pvp pirate game... mediocre graphics, clunky mechanics.... and you are either on a boat with 13 people, or 7 people... and you always get a bunch of really really BAD people.... so it makes the experience horrendous except the rare occasion the other team is even worse.

However.... It is sailing, it is manual loading, it is sea combat.... a lot of things that we will be doing in SoT.... SoT is on a whole nother level... no comparison... but since i can't play SoT yet i've been getting my sea legs loosened up on Blackwake for fun on Steam.

The point of this long and drawn-on post is to see if anyone else was playing it or would like to... and would like to team up so we can do some practice sailing together.

My steam name is Haze Grey, but easiest way to find me is by my username: Shellback731

Add me as a friend if you want to play... and even if you don't want to play, add Shellback731 to your friends list so we can sail together in SoT.

  • Never played it but watched a few streamers play it. I guess it was certain streamers who were good at getting into character that made it more enjoyable to watch. I liked the concept etc. One streamer was an amazing captain but there did seem to be quite an issue with trolling and teamkilling both during streams and 'normal play'

I would play it tough if I had a worthy pc though. I still thought it was a reasonably good game from what I saw with decent mechanics for the most part. (including nominating/voting for your captain which as a larger crew with randoms seemed a good idea)

  • I have around 100 hours in Blackwake, pretty cool game but an experienced crew is kind of key... I stopped playing it until update 3.0 comes out, definitely going to play it again when 3.0 is up!

  • I tried to get into it, but you spend 90% of your time underwater pumping out the water, instead of shooting. (my experience on the Galleon at least...)

It can be fun at times if you can keep above water, but sea of thieves is the clear winner on sinking mechanics. bailing out water and repairing is a lot better than just sitting on the bilge pumps all the time.

  • I will look you up , its good strategic and sailing practice.

  • @petecottonwood I wouldn't have minded being on the pumps. Amazing how long those guys can hold their breath for eh? lol. Liked the sound change too when you were underwater...nice touch.
