Sparrow' Compass

  • Captain Jack Sparrow (as you likely know) has a compass that leads you to what you want most. It could work in SoT by leading you to a chest, but if you stray away from said chest or any member of your crew grabs a different one, your whole crew is cursed and you need to complete a certain task to lift the curse.

  • Sounds like a pretty great idea.

  • I'd like to see something like this aswell, sounds pretty cool!

  • How would am idea like that work if someone killed you, took the chest and cashed it in?

  • Not entirely sure how I feel about gimmicky type items personally.

Sometimes I think it'd be cool, then on the other hand I think about how many other items would have their own "thing" (because what would be the point if they didn't at that point) then I think about how much it would suck to like certain benefits of an item, but hate the actual item. And how everyone would likely min-max item loadouts.

  • Okay but that sounds like a item from the order of Souls that would lead you to a legendary treasure. While this mission is active if you or your crew touches any other chest you all will be cursed. This would be a single use compass that would have to be given back to the order of Souls once the mission is complete.

The thing is why?? I mean how would this make a regular pve mission any harder? To me having a compass lead you to the chest just sounds way to easy. I would rather have cryptic clues and Vague reference. If you did not know the islands or explore enough you have no clue where to go. Then when your there not only would you have to battle through hordes of the undead. But also have complicated puzzles to solve

To me just sounds more fun then a compass that stops me from also getting extra loot on the way or playing some pvp

Plus anything That comes close to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean would be a lawsuit

  • @zombie-p1ague Agreed

  • I like the idea, but it can't be as easy as "go here and dig" because then everyone would just follow it constantly. To balance, the chest the compass wants you to get needs to look like any other basic chest, preferably one on the same island that a quest is on. The compass should also be a one time use item that is incredibly expensive or requiring high ranks in each of the guilds. Only one person per crew can have it at a time, and a log off will remove it from inventory. Additionally, while in possession of this compass, you hear chanting of some kind with environmental effects happening (not necessarily a storm, but the sun would be missing or replaced by something). Once on the island (or maybe even shipwreck) it begins to shatter, giving you a limited time to follow it to the required chest. Failure marks you with the curse. Success marks you on everyone's map. The reward? Something grand of course. Something marking you as a legend for going through all this s**t. More than likely a cosmetic item. But it doesn't end there. Only one in the crew gets it. The moment the chest is taken on board, the crew is "disbanded" and able to kill each other. The ship is still the respawn however. This will add tension to the crew. What's in the box? Who get's the box? Will the crew go mad and attack each other, or will they work together? Who will be the first to crack under the pressure? Find out next time on.... SEA! OF! THIEVES!!!

So i re-read this and it seems a bit over-board, but you get the idea, I'm sure.
