How can we play the alpha version?
I have joined the insider programme, do I have to simply wait to be selected now? Can I pre-purchase (PC) and join in?
Lastly I would prefer to NOT have to use Windows 10, I like my Windows 7 much more. Is it a requirement?

Unfortunately, now the game is out of alpha, the only current way to access the beta (a 5 day period in January) is to preorder the game. Which will get you access to the closed beta and an exclusive Black Doig accessory pack.

If you pre-order the game, you will get to play the closed beta which's date should be announced soon. Unfortunately, the technical alpha ended, with the last big wave in december.@granmarfunk well alpha is over now and if you have pre ordered then youll have access to the beta sometime this month. As to the pc specs. I dunno check the website there should be some info

Are there only five days, or is that only for the people who didn’t sign up before Dec. 1?
@granmarfunk You will not regret it... I have sunk 20 full days play time in the alpha and still eager to get back out there.
This is a very different game with no real "end game" its all about the experience... and I have loved every single different experience I have encountered.

Those who played, is the game worth the $100, is it replayable, will it take up a good amount of time? I really like end game content in games that last!

@x-ipro-king Founder members do not need to preorder for access to the beta, that is good news :D but I have preordered anyway... as everyone here expected me to :P
I played the last Alpha for about 40-50 hours, where I spent a lot of time just sailing around. I think it's a great game and personally think it is worth to pre-order it. But do you get your money worth?, I personally think so. But I mean you can pre-order it and if you did not like the beta, I mean you can get a refund.
But, from what I played through in the alpha and the various features were great and I can't wait to get a looking into the beta and try out the new features and seeing how they will work.
