Underwater combat

  • I have seen a good bit of gameplay for Sea of Thieves and I am wondering why the underwater combat is designed the way it is. The main problem I have with it is flintlock pistols having the ability to fire and hit targets while they are completely submerged in water. This is not an accurate portrayal of pirate weaponry. Underwater combat should be limited to melee weapons if the game is to be more realistic. That being the case, it should be easier to kill a shark with your cutlass than it currently is. Not trying to rag on the game (I think it is great), I'm just speaking my thoughts.

  • I do understand where you’re coming from, but the game is so goofy, that it all just fits and feels right for the game. It’s a pirate world filled with intense action, immersive environments, and experiences, but also flat-out goofy, hilarious moments as well. Realism isn’t needed for this game to sweep you out of every day life, trust me.

Hey be careful of the NDA you agreed to for the Alpha. You put in here info exclusively reviled in the Alpha. This is a general insider thread not a technical alpha feedback thread. I'm not trying to be a nitpicker but I would rather you not get in trouble.

  • @maximillianzeus Thank you for catching me on that! I have edited my original post to be more discrete!

    Yar, ye be welcome.

I was thinking the same thing lol.

If they added the ability to shoot the gun once underwater, if it was loaded out of water, and not be able to reload and shoot the gun underwater, I'd be more okay with that.

I agree though, the way underwater combat is currently seems a little ridiculous, and makes the sharks, "fish in a barrel," as some would say.

Don't think you're ragging on the game either.
The reason companies have Alphas and Betas is so they can get feedback from the players on how the game feels from a player's perspective.
You are doing exactly that, matey, yar!!

  • Yes I agree, a bit more nuance for the guns and weapons underwater would be welcomed and would make the sharks more dangerous and give a little more chance for players stealing chests from others and going underwater...
