  • I'd like the inclusion of boarding axes. Even if its just a cosmetice change to a cutlass, it would allow you to feel like a different kind of pirate

    Granted with a couple of swings that gives a small headsup to enemies.

  • That may be the true but a diversion tactic none the less! It would be much quieter than a cannon that multiple crews can hear.

    there is literally no way to damage an enemy ship from the inside right now and fire is absolutely necessary, they'd need to actually take water and pour it inside to douse it

  • @angel-rugal there’s already depth charges in the game. But I like the grog bomb idea with the bucket dousing.

  • @clearablesole48 Not really a weapon but a boarding plank which could be used to bridge the gap between two ships.

  • @alexx500 yeah i saw the exploding barrels but i meant handheld explosives or some way to damage an enemy ship from the inside

    Just looked it up at Wikipedia:

    Grenades were also used during the Golden Age of Piracy: pirate Captain Thompson used "vast numbers of powder flasks, granado shells, and stinkpots" to defeat two pirate-hunters sent by the Governor of Jamaica in 1721

  • @alexx500 the powder kegs seem to just be a part of a trader's voyage, not a normal weapon or consumable

  • @angel-rugal I’m sure you can keep them instead of turning them in if they’re not already consumables. But I still like the grogotov or grenade idea.

  • Well i have two things to say on this topic 1. Id like to see the swivel cannon, from Assassins Creed Black Flag, make a come back on the ship and yes it was a real thing. 2. Id like to see a bomb in this game like a molotov or a fuse bomb

  • @augunslingin i like this idea i found in the alpha once u have slaughtered everyone on a ship theres not really much u can do to take it down i think being able to hit holes in the ship to speed up the process would be a great addition maybe 2/3 hits for 1 hole

    -a big cannon that replaces 2 of your side cannons, double range, double damage, double AOE, 2.5 times reload speed

    -Swivel gun thats installed at the bow or stern, removes a cannon from each side. has a 270 degree arc, faster aim speed, slower reload time, minimal AOE

    -A large Harpoon gun, very similar to the swivel gun as you lose a cannon on each side when installed at the bow or stern, doesnt do ship damage but can be used to anchor your ship to another, allowing you to run across and board it while preventing their escape. able to be cut by the enemy crew

  • Not really a weapon but how about a hand drill for when youre inside the enemy ship. One that takes a similar amount of time to drill a hole through the hull as when you dig for treasure?

  • Piratey melee weapons:
    Cutlass (There already, of course)
    Machete/heavier blade
    Hatchet/hand axe
    Club
    Spear? (I'm on the fence about polearms.)

  • Piratey firearms:
    Pistol (Please let us dual-wield them [at the cost of reloading]!)
    Blunderbuss (Also already existing)
    Rifle/long gun (Also also seems to be in already)
    I agree with a grenade. I can see the cast iron sphere with the fuse sticking out already. Would be especially nice with skeleton hoards.
    Um... I'm actually at a loss for more firearms.

  • Hatchets and axes seem like decent ideas. And I agree with some of the throwbacks weapks like grenades or grogotovs (that being said, I didn’t notice that ships couldn’t catch fire, and I think that should definitely be looked into) but as far as hatchets or axes go, it’s defknitley one of the classic pirate weapons, and could be used for hacking at ship parts or for special purposes. But like they say in many of their videos, everything has a purpose. And so I’d say if they were going to make something like that akin to the cutlass, it would need to replace the cutlass cosmetically and work the same way.

  • Id like to see a blunt weapon like a club or maybe just use a wooden plank as a weapon in aim of rendering an opponent unconcious where they could then be dragged down and locked in their own brig during a ship raid.

    The swivel gun would be good as an extra customisation to your ship but I'd also argue the desire for mortars and the differen ammo types for your main cannon ie grapeshot chainshot and explosive or incindiary shots.

    A grappling hook to aid those ship raids or use from the ocean to latch to a moving ship to sneak abord.

    A variety of swords and deul weilding potential for faster attacks with reduced weapon change speed or just movement speed in general. Again the same for pistols.

    An ammo belt although not a weapon would be great when we have more selection(musket, flintlock pistol, longbarrel pistol, blunderbuss etc) increased ammo for those long haul raids.

    Liking the grenade or molotov idea however the powder kegs on a boat was normally the thing that sank ships so maybe have explosive kegs in ships that can be ignighted during a raid to sink it.

    Just a few ideas

  • I would like some sort of silent throwing weapon, maybe along the idea with the hand axe. To balance it you could make it parryable with another melee weapon in order to promote the wielder to use it in a stealth like manner. I know some of you would prefer to be able to block with the weapon but you could possibly remove that function to allow the user to throw it. First post btw! Avast, ye scurvy s**m!

  • There were clay grenades blunder busts and other weapons it was not just flint lock Pistols and a cutless.
