For further clarification: Take the Pet Protector hull for example, the paw prints would be that hulls "decal".
That said, If possible It would be a new ship piece that would act as an extra layer of customization for players.
Allowing for players to swap to different ship decals, or choose none for a more simple pirate look!
As for possible name suggestions in game here are some ideas I have: "The Seadog Insignia", or "The Dark Adventurer Decal".
